Weather – Delhi Sees Pleasant Conditions as Cloud Cover and Light Rain Continue
Weather –Delhi experienced relatively comfortable weather on Friday, with mild temperatures and light showers reported from several parts of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), residents can expect a generally cloudy sky along with the possibility of light rainfall on Saturday.
Temperatures Stay Close to Seasonal Levels
The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung observatory, which serves as Delhi’s primary weather station. This reading was 0.6 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average for this time of the year.
Across other monitoring stations, temperatures remained slightly lower. Palam registered a daytime high of 33.5 degrees Celsius, which was 1.4 degrees below normal. Lodhi Road reported a maximum of 33.6 degrees Celsius, marginally above the average by 0.6 degrees. The Ridge station recorded 33.4 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degrees below normal, while Ayanagar measured 33.1 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below the seasonal mark.
Overnight Temperatures Show Minor Variations
Nighttime conditions also remained comfortable across most parts of the city. Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 27.2 degrees Celsius, just 0.1 degree above the normal level.
Among the other weather stations, Palam registered the lowest minimum temperature at 25.4 degrees Celsius, which was 1.7 degrees below average. Lodhi Road also reported 27.2 degrees Celsius during the early morning hours. The Ridge station recorded a cooler 23.4 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar noted a minimum temperature of 27.3 degrees Celsius.
Light Rain Brings Brief Relief
Scattered areas across Delhi received light rainfall on Friday, bringing temporary relief from warm and humid conditions. The showers, although not widespread, contributed to a pleasant atmosphere in several localities.
The IMD has predicted similar weather for Saturday, indicating that the city is likely to remain under a generally cloudy sky. Light rain is expected at isolated places, which could help keep daytime temperatures under control.
Weather experts advise residents to remain updated with local forecasts, especially those planning outdoor activities, as rain intensity may vary from one area to another.
Air Quality Remains in the Satisfactory Category
Alongside the comfortable weather, Delhi’s air quality continued to remain within the “satisfactory” range. Data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed that the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 76 during the evening.
An AQI in this category indicates that the air quality is generally acceptable for most people, though individuals with heightened sensitivity to air pollution may experience minor health effects after prolonged outdoor exposure.
The combination of cloud cover, intermittent rainfall, and moderate wind conditions has helped maintain cleaner air in the capital over the past few days. Environmental experts note that such weather conditions often support the dispersion of airborne pollutants, contributing to improved air quality.
With light showers likely to continue and temperatures remaining close to normal, Delhi is expected to witness relatively stable weather conditions through the weekend.
