DrugSeizure –Hyderabad Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly running an unlawful supply chain of Mephentermine Sulphate injections, recovering a significant quantity of the medication during a targeted operation.
Hyderabad Police have taken three men into custody for allegedly obtaining and selling Mephentermine Sulphate injections without legal authorization. During the operation carried out within the Saifabad Police Station limits, officials recovered 100 vials of Mephentermine Sulphate Injection IP 10 ml (Mephpro), three mobile phones, and a scooty. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at around Rs 4 lakh. Police said the action was based on specific intelligence regarding the illegal distribution of the medicine.
Police Intercept Suspects During Targeted Operation
According to investigators, the accused have been identified as Shaik Faheem, Mohd Nayeem, and Ibrahim Hussain, all residents of Natraj Nagar in Tappachaputra. Acting on reliable information, a police team intercepted the trio near Shree Maruti Logistics while they were transporting the injections on a scooty. Officers immediately seized the suspected illegal stock and detained the men for further questioning.
Investigation Traces Source of the Injections
During the investigation, police found that the injections had allegedly been sourced from a person identified as Shakti Huda, a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Officials stated that the consignment was transported through a logistics service before reaching Hyderabad. The accused are suspected of selling the injections to buyers at prices higher than their market value, making unauthorized profits through the illegal trade.
Police said the inquiry is continuing to determine whether additional individuals or distribution channels are connected to the operation. Investigators are also examining the supply network to identify the full extent of the alleged illegal business.
Health Risks Associated With Misuse
Authorities warned that the misuse of Mephentermine Sulphate injections can pose serious health hazards. The medicine is intended for use only under qualified medical supervision, and its improper consumption may result in severe complications. Police highlighted that possible side effects include cardiac arrest, elevated blood pressure, and other cardiovascular problems that can endanger a person’s life.
Officials urged the public, particularly young people, not to purchase or consume prescription medicines from unauthorized sources. They stressed that using stimulant drugs without medical advice can have dangerous consequences and encouraged people to seek proper treatment only through licensed healthcare professionals.
Task Force Led the Enforcement Action
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector of Police S. Saidababu of the Charminar Zone Task Force. The enforcement team included Sub-Inspectors M. Madhu, K. Rama Rao, and M. Mahesh, along with Police Constable Sri K. Santosh Kumar, members of the Charminar Zone Task Force, and personnel from the Saifabad Police Station.
Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against the illegal sale of prescription medicines and substances that may threaten public health. Officials added that efforts will continue to identify and dismantle networks involved in the unauthorized distribution of regulated pharmaceutical products across the city.
