Complaint Filed by Family

The deceased has been identified as Pravin Datta Mane, who lived at ZH Heights in the Manjari area of Pune. Following his funeral, his mother, 48-year-old Lalita Datta Mane, approached Manjari Police Station and lodged a complaint. Based on the statement provided by the family, police registered a case against Pranali Pravin Mane, also known as Pranali Jagannath Jadhav, aged 20, and Sumit Jadhav. Both are residents of Gadhwad village in Maharashtra’s Latur district.

Marriage Took Place Earlier This Year

According to information shared by police, Pravin and Pranali, who were related to each other, entered into an arranged marriage on May 20, 2025, in Gadhwad. After the wedding, the couple began living together in Pune.

Investigators said that on July 20, 2026, Pranali allegedly left the house without informing her family members. As a result, a missing person complaint was registered at the Manjari Police Station.

Wife Appeared Before Police

Police said Pranali later arrived at the police station on July 21 along with her parents, who had travelled to Pune after learning about the missing person report. During her interaction with police, she reportedly alleged that both her husband and mother-in-law had been harassing her. She also stated that she was unwilling to continue living with them before leaving with her parents.

Allegations Regarding Previous Relationship

According to the complaint filed by Pravin’s mother, her son later informed her that he had learned after the marriage that Pranali had allegedly been in a relationship with Sumit before their wedding.

The complaint further claims that Pravin told his family his wife often argued with him, repeatedly expressed that she did not wish to stay in the marriage, and allegedly threatened to end her own life during disputes. These allegations are part of the complaint submitted to police and remain under investigation.

Body Found Inside Bedroom

Police said that on the morning of July 23, Pravin did not respond when family members tried to contact him. After receiving no response, relatives, with assistance from neighbours, forced open the bedroom door and found him dead inside the room.

During the initial examination, investigators discovered a message written on his hand that allegedly stated, “My wife and her lover took my life.” Officers also recovered a handwritten note from a sheet of paper placed on the bed. Both items have been taken into custody as evidence and will form part of the investigation.

Investigation Continues

After completing the last rites, Pravin’s mother formally filed her complaint, prompting police to register the case. Assistant Police Inspector Umesh Rokade is leading the investigation. Police officials have stated that evidence is being examined, witness statements are being recorded, and the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated in accordance with legal procedures. Authorities have not announced any further findings at this stage.
