Murder – Jabalpur Welder Dies After Village Dispute, Ambulance Delay Allegations Surface
Murder –A 30-year-old welder lost his life after he was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon during a dispute with another resident in a village of Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. The incident has also raised questions over the availability of emergency medical services, with the victim’s family claiming delays in ambulance support affected his chances of receiving timely treatment.
Fatal Clash Reported in Bargi Area
The incident occurred late on Wednesday night in Saliwada village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bargi police station. According to the police, the victim, identified as Namami Patel, had finished dinner and was sitting outside his home when he reportedly became involved in an argument with another villager, Ghanshyam Kevat.
Officials said the disagreement quickly escalated, and Patel was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. Local police were informed about the incident later that night, following which an investigation was launched.
Murder Case Registered, Search for Accused Continues
Police have registered a case of murder and started efforts to locate and arrest the accused. Bargi police station officials said the initial findings indicate that the attack followed a personal dispute, although the exact sequence of events and motive will become clearer after the suspect is taken into custody and questioned.
Investigators are collecting evidence from the scene and recording statements from people familiar with the incident as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Victim Died While Being Shifted to Medical College
After sustaining serious injuries, Patel was first taken to the government health centre in Bargi for immediate medical attention. Doctors there referred him to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur for advanced treatment.
However, police confirmed that Patel died while he was being transported to the medical college before he could receive further treatment.
Family Raises Questions Over Emergency Services
Following the incident, members of Patel’s family alleged that repeated calls were made to both the 108 ambulance service and the 112 emergency response helpline, but assistance did not arrive in time.
According to the family, they were left with no option but to transport the injured man to the health centre in a private vehicle. They further claimed that the ambulance stationed at the Bargi government hospital could not be used because it had developed a mechanical fault. As a result, Patel was again shifted to the medical college in a private vehicle.
The family also alleged that medical professionals informed them that quicker medical intervention might have increased the possibility of saving his life.
Police Verify Ambulance Delay Claims
Responding to the allegations, the Station House Officer of Bargi police station said the claims related to ambulance availability and emergency response have been brought to the notice of the authorities.
Police said these allegations are being examined alongside the criminal investigation. Officials added that every aspect of the family’s complaint will be verified and appropriate action will be taken if any lapses are established during the inquiry.
Investigation Continues
Police also stated that Patel had been married for around a year. While the immediate trigger appears to have been an argument between the two villagers, investigators said the precise motive behind the alleged killing will only be confirmed after the accused is apprehended and questioned.
The investigation remains in progress, with authorities continuing efforts to arrest the suspect and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
