Parliament – Chandrababu Naidu Urges TDP MPs to Champion Andhra Pradesh Priorities in Parliament
Parliament –Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Members of Parliament to focus on issues related to the state during the upcoming Parliament session while ensuring smooth coordination with the Central government and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners.
Chief Minister Naidu chaired a meeting of the TDP Parliamentary Party at his camp office in Undavalli on Friday, where he reviewed the agenda for the upcoming session and outlined the party’s priorities. He advised MPs to present Andhra Pradesh’s concerns in a constructive manner while maintaining close cooperation with the Union government and alliance partners. The meeting also included discussions on national legislation that could have an impact on the state.
Focus on Key Legislative Proposals
During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought feedback from party MPs regarding the political response to the proposed Delimitation Bill. He encouraged them to remain well-prepared for discussions that may arise in Parliament and to assess the implications of the legislation carefully.
Naidu also directed Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh to conduct a detailed review of the proposed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill. The proposed legislation aims to establish a single regulatory system for higher education by replacing existing bodies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The Chief Minister stressed the importance of understanding the proposed reforms before the Bill is debated further.
Coordination With NDA Partners
The Chief Minister instructed party MPs to respond effectively to criticism from opposition parties on important national matters. At the same time, he emphasized that their responses should be aligned with the broader position of the BJP and other NDA allies to maintain unity within the alliance during parliamentary proceedings.
He underlined the importance of disciplined communication and coordinated participation in debates, saying that the party’s approach should reflect both the interests of Andhra Pradesh and the responsibilities of being part of the ruling alliance at the Centre.
State Development Remains a Priority
Naidu also updated MPs on the Andhra Pradesh government’s ongoing efforts to obtain stronger support from the Union government for several major development initiatives. Among the projects discussed were river interlinking plans, the Purvodaya initiative, and the need for Viability Gap Funding to accelerate key infrastructure projects across the state.
According to the Chief Minister, continued engagement with the Centre is essential to ensure that these initiatives receive the required policy and financial backing. He encouraged MPs to actively pursue these matters during the Parliament session and maintain regular communication with Central ministries.
Push for Greater Central Assistance
The meeting concluded with Naidu asking party MPs to raise issues related to increased financial assistance under Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He said additional support from the Centre would help strengthen development programmes and improve the implementation of welfare initiatives across Andhra Pradesh.
He also encouraged MPs to keep the public informed about the state’s welfare measures and development efforts, highlighting the importance of effective communication regarding government programmes and achievements. Naidu said that consistent engagement both inside and outside Parliament would help advance Andhra Pradesh’s interests while reinforcing cooperation with the Central government.
