Delhi Police on Friday said two separate operations carried out by officers from Seemapuri Police Station led to the arrest of two individuals allegedly carrying illegal firearms. During the operations, police recovered two country-made pistols along with two live cartridges. Officials confirmed that separate cases have been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act against the accused.

Police Continue Drive Against Illegal Weapons

According to a statement issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rajendra Prasad Meena, the action was part of an ongoing campaign aimed at curbing the illegal possession of firearms and strengthening public safety across the district. Police teams have increased patrolling and surveillance at locations considered sensitive to prevent criminal activities and maintain law and order.

The statement added that the alertness of beat officers during routine patrols resulted in the detection of the two separate incidents on the same day.

First Arrest Near New Seemapuri Park

In the first operation, Head Constables Ajeet and Rinku were conducting routine patrol duty near MCD Park on Kabristan Road in New Seemapuri when they noticed a man behaving suspiciously. Police said the individual attempted to run after seeing the patrol team, prompting officers to chase and detain him.

During the subsequent search, officers allegedly recovered a country-made pistol and one live cartridge from the left pocket of his trousers. The accused was identified as 19-year-old Sohil, a resident of New Seemapuri in Delhi.

Following the recovery, police registered FIR No. 452/2026 under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Seemapuri Police Station. The investigation into the case has been assigned to Head Constable Rujudeen.

Second Operation Conducted Near Railway Line

In another incident later the same day, Head Constable Monu and Constable Vikram were patrolling near the railway line in A-Block of the Jhilmil Industrial Area. During the patrol, they observed another man whose behaviour reportedly raised suspicion. Police stated that he also attempted to flee after noticing the officers but was caught after a brief pursuit.

A search allegedly resulted in the recovery of one country-made pistol along with one live cartridge. The accused was identified as 22-year-old Rishikant, a resident of Bhandwa Sawran village in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district.

Police registered FIR No. 451/2026 under Section 25 of the Arms Act, and further investigation in the matter has been entrusted to Head Constable Devender.

Police Highlight Timely Response

Summarising the operations, Delhi Police said the vigilance and prompt action of the beat staff helped prevent the possible misuse of the recovered firearms. Officials stated that both arrests were made during routine policing efforts, leading to the seizure of two illegal country-made pistols and two live cartridges while separate legal proceedings were initiated against the accused.

Authorities said such enforcement measures are part of their continued efforts to improve public safety and discourage the illegal circulation of firearms in the area.

Investigation Remains in Progress

Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine where the recovered weapons came from and whether the two accused have links to any other criminal activities. Investigators are also examining if the firearms were intended for use in any unlawful acts.

The police added that additional inquiries will continue as part of the ongoing investigation, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the course of the probe.
