Encounter – Mathura Police Nab Two Murder Accused After Late-Night Gunfight
Encounter – Police in Mathura achieved a significant breakthrough after arresting two men accused in a murder case during a late-night encounter. The suspects were taken into custody after an exchange of fire with the police and were later shifted to a district hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the operation.

Police Acted on Specific Intelligence
According to officials, the operation began on the night of July 13 after the Nauhjheel police received reliable information that two men wanted in connection with a murder case were moving within the area. The case had been registered under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Based on the intelligence inputs, police officers quickly organized a search operation and established a checkpoint near the culvert connecting Shall and Kolahar villages along the Pahchara Saddikpur canal distributary. The location was selected to intercept the suspects before they could leave the area.
Exchange of Fire During Interception
Police officials stated that the two suspects were travelling on a motorcycle when officers attempted to stop them for questioning. Instead of surrendering, the men allegedly opened fire while trying to escape from the spot.
The police team responded in self-defence, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, both suspects suffered bullet injuries to their left legs. Officers immediately secured the accused, ensured medical assistance, and transported them under police custody to the district hospital for treatment.
Identities of the Accused Revealed
The arrested individuals have been identified as Satendra, also known as Satte, aged 38, and Moti, aged 49. Both are residents of the Nauhjheel region in Mathura district.
Police records indicate that Satendra is listed as a history-sheeter at the Nauhjheel police station. Investigators believe both men were wanted in connection with an ongoing murder investigation and had been under police watch before the successful operation.
Weapons and Motorcycle Seized
During the search conducted after the arrests, police recovered a motorcycle that did not have a registration number plate. Officials alleged that the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicle had also been tampered with, raising suspicion about its identity.
The police team further seized two country-made .315 bore pistols, four live cartridges, three spent cartridge cases, and cash amounting to Rs 2,600 from the possession of the accused. All recovered items have been taken into evidence as part of the investigation.
Long Criminal Records Under Investigation
Authorities said preliminary records show that both accused have lengthy criminal backgrounds. Satendra is facing around 20 criminal cases registered across police stations in Mathura and Aligarh. These cases include allegations related to murder, robbery, theft, offences under the Gangsters Act, and previous incidents involving police encounters.
Police also stated that Moti has seven criminal cases registered against him. The allegations against him include attempted murder, robbery, and offences under the Gangsters Act. Investigators are examining whether the two accused were involved in any additional criminal activities beyond the current murder case.
Investigation Continues
After receiving medical treatment, both accused remain in police custody while legal procedures continue. Officials confirmed that the operation was carried out under the supervision of Nauhjheel Station House Officer Anjeesh Kumar.
The police have stated that the investigation is still in progress, and further action will be taken based on evidence collected during the operation and subsequent inquiry. Authorities are also verifying the recovered motorcycle and weapons to determine their possible links with other criminal cases.
