Delhi University – Academic Calendar Sets Key Dates for 2026-27 Session

Delhi University –  The University of Delhi has issued its academic calendar for the 2026-27 session, setting out teaching days, examination periods and vacation breaks for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The schedule covers both odd and even semesters and comes as the university continues its admission process for the new academic year.

Odd Semester Classes Begin in July

Teaching for the first, third, fifth and seventh semesters is scheduled to start on July 28, 2026. The university has planned an autumn break from October 18 to October 25. Classes will resume on October 26 after the week-long recess.

Academic activities for the odd semesters will move into the examination phase from November 20. This period will include the dispersal of classes, preparation leave and practical examinations. Written examinations are expected to begin on December 4, although the university will release the detailed date sheet separately.

Winter Break and Even Semester Schedule

Following the completion of the odd-semester examinations, students will receive a winter break from December 25 to December 31. The next academic cycle will begin immediately after the break, with classes for the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semesters starting on January 1, 2027.

A mid-semester break has been included in the calendar from March 21 to March 28. Regular teaching will restart on March 29. The university has fixed April 30 as the start date for preparation leave and practical examinations for even-semester students.

Theory examinations for the even semesters are scheduled to commence on May 13. Once the examination process concludes, the university will observe its summer vacation from June 3 to July 20, 2027.

Admission Process Continues for New Session

The release of the academic calendar coincides with the ongoing admission exercise for the 2026-27 session. Undergraduate applicants are currently registering through the Common Seat Allocation System, or CSAS, after the portal opened on June 26.

The CSAS process is used by Delhi University to manage undergraduate seat allocation across its colleges and programmes. Applicants are expected to complete registration and follow the university’s subsequent announcements regarding preferences, seat allocation rounds and admission confirmation.

Mid-Entry Option Available for Postgraduate Applicants

The postgraduate admission process is also underway. Candidates who did not submit an application through the CSAS PG portal earlier can still apply through the university’s Mid-Entry facility.

Applicants using the Mid-Entry route must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 1,000. The university has set July 4 as the deadline for submitting applications under this provision. Candidates are advised to review eligibility requirements and programme-specific conditions before completing the application process.

The calendar provides students with an early outline of the academic year, including classroom schedules, examination windows and holiday periods. Delhi University is expected to issue separate notices for examination date sheets, admission rounds and other administrative updates as the session progresses.
