AI Darshan – Srisailam Temple Plans Smart Queue System for Faster Pilgrim Access

AI Darshan – Temple Management Innovation for Devotee Convenience – Srisailam Temple authorities are preparing a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving crowd management and significantly reducing waiting time for devotees visiting the famous shrine.

Srisailam ai darshan smart queue system

The administration of Srisailam Temple has announced plans to introduce an advanced artificial intelligence-powered darshan management system alongside the construction of a modern queue complex designed to improve the overall pilgrimage experience. Officials expect the new arrangements to help devotees complete darshan of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba Devi within approximately 45 minutes after entering the queue.

Modern Queue Complex Planned

The proposed queue facility will be developed on the lines of the successful crowd management model followed at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. According to temple authorities, the project will feature spacious waiting areas, clearly defined entry and exit routes, surveillance systems, digital monitoring, and AI-supported crowd regulation to ensure a smoother flow of pilgrims throughout the temple premises.

Temple Trust Board Chairman P. Ramesh Naidu said that an initial survey for the project has already been completed. The estimated investment for the new complex stands at around Rs 145 crore. He stated that officials are working to complete the tender process soon and are targeting a groundbreaking ceremony in August.

AI to Improve Crowd Movement

Officials believe the upcoming AI-based management system will help eliminate congestion and improve transparency by introducing a standardized entry and exit process. The administration expects the technology to monitor crowd movement in real time, helping maintain an uninterrupted flow of devotees while preventing unauthorized access.

Naidu said the entire system has been planned with the objective of allowing pilgrims to complete their visit without unnecessary delays. Once operational, the administration hopes the technology-driven arrangement will provide a faster and more organized darshan experience compared with the existing system.

Waiting Time Expected to Reduce

At present, devotees often spend between two and three hours in queues, especially during busy periods. The temple currently handles nearly 6,000 devotees every hour on regular days, while the number increases to around 8,600 during festivals and special occasions.

With the proposed infrastructure and AI integration, officials estimate they can consistently manage nearly 7,000 devotees every hour while bringing down overall waiting time. The administration believes efficient movement rather than increasing crowd density will be the key to achieving quicker darshan.

Changes Planned for High-Rush Days

The temple administration has also proposed modifications to the Sparsha Darshan system during weekends and other peak days, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Under the revised arrangement, authorities aim to facilitate darshan for at least 20,000 general devotees between 5:30 am and 8:30 am.

The changes are intended to improve access for a larger number of visitors during periods when pilgrim turnout remains exceptionally high.

Focus on Pilgrim Comfort

Temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao said the project has been designed with the goal of ensuring that devotees continue moving through the queue without long periods of standing still. According to him, maintaining continuous movement while preserving the spiritual atmosphere remains a key priority of the new initiative.

In addition to the main queue complex, the administration has proposed the construction of Pilgrim Amenities Complexes at Dornala and Hatakeswaram. These facilities are expected to provide improved services and convenience for visitors travelling to the temple.

The entire project is expected to be completed within about 18 months. Once fully operational, officials believe the combination of modern infrastructure, AI-enabled crowd management, and expanded pilgrim amenities will establish Srisailam as one of India’s most efficiently managed pilgrimage destinations while continuing to uphold its long-standing religious traditions.
