Focus on Public Trust and Preventive Policing

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that policing should be people-oriented, preventive, and highly visible across the city. He urged officers to remain accessible to citizens while maintaining professionalism, fairness, and transparency in their duties. According to him, building public confidence requires law enforcement agencies to act with empathy as well as firmness, ensuring that every citizen feels secure and respected.

Priority for Women, Children and Senior Citizens

The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed that the protection of women, children, and senior citizens remains one of the highest priorities for the Delhi Police. He directed officials to identify vulnerable locations before crimes occur and take preventive action against street offences. Special emphasis was placed on improving security arrangements around educational institutions to ensure the safety of girl students throughout the city.

Greater Use of Technology in Crime Prevention

To strengthen law enforcement capabilities, the Lieutenant Governor encouraged the wider adoption of advanced technologies. He asked the police force to make effective use of artificial intelligence, drones, facial recognition systems, and social media monitoring to detect potential threats and prevent criminal activities at an early stage.

He also highlighted the importance of regular professional training, particularly in tackling cybercrime investigations and handling sensitive cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Continuous skill development, he said, is essential for responding to evolving security challenges.

Stricter Traffic Enforcement Across the Capital

Addressing traffic management, the Lieutenant Governor instructed officials to strengthen enforcement against common traffic violations. He called for a stronger presence of traffic police personnel at major intersections and congestion points while ensuring strict action against offences such as wrong-side driving, triple riding on motorcycles, and riding without helmets.

Alongside enforcement, he encouraged authorities to promote responsible road behaviour through sustained public awareness efforts aimed at improving compliance with traffic rules.

Expanding Community Participation in Policing

The meeting also focused on increasing public participation in maintaining law and order. The Lieutenant Governor suggested involving Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), Market Welfare Associations (MWAs), and street vendors more actively in community policing initiatives. He noted that stronger cooperation between local communities and the police can improve information sharing and support crime prevention at the neighbourhood level.

Welfare Measures for Police Personnel

Reviewing internal administrative matters, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the need for transparent transfer policies to prevent favouritism and ensure fair career opportunities for personnel. He instructed officials to expedite promotions for lower-ranked staff and work towards increasing the representation of women within the police force.

Additionally, he recommended exploring Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships to strengthen financial support for martyr welfare funds, recognising the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty.

Sustainable Housing Initiatives

The Lieutenant Governor also directed authorities to transform police residential colonies into zero-waste residential complexes by adopting environmentally responsible practices. He suggested replicating the model implemented at Navjeevan Vihar, aligning police housing projects with broader sustainability and civic development goals
