Collision Occurred Before Dawn

According to officials, the accident took place at around 4 a.m. when a luxury bus travelling from Banswara in Rajasthan to Surat struck the rear of a truck parked along the roadside. Preliminary findings suggest that the truck had been halted while its driver was inspecting tyre pressure.

The impact severely damaged the front section of the bus, trapping several passengers inside the vehicle. Residents from nearby areas and motorists passing through the route immediately rushed to help before emergency response teams reached the scene.

Large-Scale Rescue Operation Launched

Teams from the police department, fire brigade and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) carried out an extensive rescue operation. Fire personnel used heavy machinery, including a JCB, to separate the bus from the truck and gain access to passengers trapped inside the crushed compartment.

Rescuers worked through the wreckage for several hours to safely evacuate those who had been injured. The operation drew significant attention from local residents, many of whom assisted emergency teams during the initial phase of the rescue effort.

Victims Undergoing Treatment

Most passengers travelling on the bus were reported to be residents of Rajasthan. The injured were shifted to Sir Sayajirao General Hospital and several private healthcare facilities in Vadodara for treatment.

Hospital officials confirmed that 28 passengers suffered injuries in the accident. Among them, two individuals remain in critical condition and are receiving intensive medical care. Doctors continue to monitor the condition of all injured passengers.

Traffic Disrupted for Hours

The crash caused major disruption along the highway, leading to a traffic backlog stretching several kilometres. Authorities diverted vehicles and worked to clear the damaged bus and truck from the roadway while rescue activities were underway.

Normal traffic movement resumed gradually after emergency crews completed clearance operations and secured the accident site.

Reacting to the incident, Gujarat BJP state president described the accident as a heartbreaking event and paid tribute to those who lost their lives. He expressed sympathy for the bereaved families and offered prayers for the recovery of injured passengers.
