PhD Scholar Chosen as ICC Representative

Among the newly elected members, Ananya Anindita, a doctoral researcher from the Department of English, was selected to represent the PhD constituency on the Internal Complaints Committee. Her election marks a significant addition to the statutory body responsible for handling complaints related to sexual harassment within the university community.

Election Conducted in Two Stages

According to information released by the student organisation, the ICC election process was completed through a two-phase system. The first stage took place in February 2026, when representatives were elected at the department and centre levels across the university.

These elected representatives later formed the Electoral College, which participated in the second phase of the voting process to determine the final constituency representatives for the committee.

Representatives from Multiple Academic Levels

Alongside Anindita, two other candidates secured positions on the committee through their respective constituencies. Shlok was elected as the representative for the postgraduate category, while Aryan won the seat designated for undergraduate students.

The outcome reflects participation from different academic segments of the university, ensuring representation from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels within the committee’s elected structure.

Role of the Internal Complaints Committee

The Internal Complaints Committee functions as a statutory body established to address and investigate complaints concerning sexual harassment within the university. The committee plays an important role in maintaining a safe and respectful academic environment by providing a formal mechanism for grievance redressal.

With the completion of the 2026 election process, the newly elected representatives are expected to contribute to the committee’s responsibilities and support its mandate of addressing complaints in accordance with institutional and legal guidelines
