Railways – A stone-pelting incident targeting the Swarna Shatabdi Express has prompted a police investigation after a window of an AC First Class coach was damaged while the train was passing through Uttar Pradesh. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was among the passengers travelling on the train at the time. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and the train completed its journey safely.

Incident Reported Near Firozabad
According to police officials, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when the Swarna Shatabdi Express was operating on its scheduled route from Kanpur to New Delhi. A stone struck the AC First Class coach, shattering one of the windowpanes. Authorities said the train was moving through the Firozabad region when the incident took place.
Senior police officers stated that the matter was immediately brought to the attention of local law enforcement agencies. Security personnel and railway authorities began collecting information soon after receiving reports of the damage.
Police Launch Detailed Investigation
Additional Director General of Police (Agra Zone) SK Bhagwat said investigators are working to identify the individual responsible for throwing the stone. He noted that despite the damage to the coach window, no passengers suffered injuries during the incident.
Police teams have initiated a detailed inquiry, including examining surveillance footage from locations along the railway route. Investigators are also gathering statements and reviewing available evidence to understand the exact circumstances surrounding the event.
CCTV Footage Under Examination
Deputy Superintendent of Police Aditya Langh said authorities received information about the damaged coach window when the train was travelling through an area located near the boundaries of the South and Rasulpur police station jurisdictions. Officials quickly verified that the train remained operational and that all passengers were safe.
As part of the investigation, CCTV recordings from nearby locations are being reviewed. Police believe the footage may help establish the sequence of events and identify those involved. The findings will be shared with the investigation teams for further analysis.
One Person Detained for Questioning
Officials confirmed that one individual has been detained and is currently being questioned in connection with the case. However, police have not disclosed further details regarding the person’s role pending the outcome of the inquiry.
Authorities stated that additional questioning and evidence collection are continuing. A formal complaint is being processed, after which a criminal case will be registered. Law enforcement agencies have assured that strict action will be taken if any individual’s involvement is established through the investigation.
Presence of RSS Chief Confirmed
When asked about reports that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was travelling on the train, DSP Langh confirmed the information. He said the presence of the senior RSS leader has led authorities to treat the matter with heightened seriousness.
Police officials emphasized that the investigation will be conducted impartially and that all aspects of the incident are being examined. They reiterated that anyone found responsible for the stone-pelting episode would face legal action in accordance with the law.
