Governance – Karnataka CM Holds Key Meetings During Delhi Visit

  Governance –  Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar spent a busy day in New Delhi on Thursday, combining official meetings with a visit to a party colleague receiving medical treatment. The Chief Minister first met Congress legislator K Shadakshari, who is currently admitted to a private hospital in the national capital, and conveyed his wishes for a speedy recovery.

Chief Minister Checks on MLA’s Health

Shivakumar visited Shadakshari, the MLA representing the Tiptur constituency, to personally assess his condition. Sharing details of the visit on social media, the Karnataka leader said he had enquired about the legislator’s health and extended his support during the recovery process.

He also expressed hope that Shadakshari would regain full health soon and resume his responsibilities in public life. The Chief Minister noted that he was praying for the legislator’s swift recovery and return to active service.

Meeting With Union Finance Minister

Later in the day, Shivakumar met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her office in New Delhi. Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda was also present during the interaction.

Information shared through the Finance Minister’s office confirmed that the Karnataka leaders called on Sitharaman as part of their engagements in the capital. While details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, the meeting highlighted ongoing coordination between the Karnataka government and the Union government on matters of administrative and economic importance.

Discussion With Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The Karnataka Chief Minister also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog held in New Delhi. The interaction marked Shivakumar’s first meeting with the Prime Minister after assuming office as the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Photographs released by the Prime Minister’s Office showed Shivakumar presenting a sculpture of a deity to Prime Minister Modi during the meeting. The images were shared through official social media channels, confirming the interaction between the two leaders.

Focus on Karnataka’s Growth Priorities

Following the meeting, Shivakumar described the discussions with the Prime Minister as productive and constructive. According to the Chief Minister, several key issues related to Karnataka’s growth and future development were taken up during the conversation.

He stated that topics such as infrastructure expansion, investment opportunities, urban transport systems, irrigation projects, innovation-driven initiatives, and welfare programmes were discussed. These areas, he said, remain crucial to improving the lives of people across the state.

Seeking Greater Support for State Aspirations

Shivakumar emphasized that Karnataka is committed to accelerating its development agenda and achieving long-term progress across sectors. He also expressed confidence that cooperation between the state and the Centre would help address important priorities and fulfil the aspirations of Karnataka’s citizens.

The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s dedication to working closely with the Union government to strengthen economic growth, improve public services, and support major development projects. He said collaborative efforts would play a significant role in building a stronger and more prosperous Karnataka in the years ahead.
