Transport – Electric Bus Network Set to Strengthen Mobility Across Noida Region
Transport – A major boost to public transportation infrastructure is set to take place in the National Capital Region as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath prepares to launch a new electric bus service connecting Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Authority region on Friday. The initiative is designed to improve daily travel options while supporting environmentally sustainable urban transport.

Launch Event Scheduled in Noida
The inauguration ceremony will be held at Shilp Haat in Sector 33A, where the Chief Minister is expected to formally flag off the first batch of electric buses. Officials estimate that nearly 300 guests and stakeholders will attend the event. While ten buses will begin their journey from the launch venue, additional vehicles will start operations from the Sector 90 bus depot and enter service on designated routes.
First Phase to Cover Three Administrative Regions
Under the initial rollout plan, the three development authorities—Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Authority—will each operate ten electric buses within their respective areas. The phased implementation aims to ensure smooth operations while gradually expanding public transport coverage across the rapidly developing urban corridor.
Authorities believe the project will help modernize the existing transport system by replacing conventional vehicles with cleaner and more efficient alternatives. The move is also expected to contribute to reducing vehicle emissions in one of the country’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.
Affordable Travel Options for Passengers
According to officials involved in the project, detailed route plans have already been finalized for all three regions. Passenger fares have been kept within an affordable range, with ticket prices starting at Rs 20 and going up to Rs 50 depending on travel distance.
The pricing structure has been designed to encourage wider adoption of public transportation while offering a cost-effective alternative to private vehicles and other commuting options.
Focus on Airport Connectivity
One of the key objectives of the electric bus network is to improve access to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. Several routes have been planned to provide direct and convenient transportation links between the airport and major residential, commercial, and institutional centers across Noida and Greater Noida.
Officials expect the service to play an important role in supporting passenger movement once airport operations begin, helping residents and visitors travel more efficiently within the region.
Wider Route Coverage Planned
Apart from airport-bound services, the new buses will connect several important destinations, including Botanical Garden, Sector 62, Greater Noida West, Surajpur, and Pari Chowk. Inter-city connectivity has also been incorporated into the network, with routes extending toward Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, and ISBT.
In addition, a number of longer routes have been planned within the Yamuna Authority area to improve transport access between rural communities and urban centers. Officials say these links are expected to support regional development by making travel easier for residents across a wider geographical area.
Expansion Plan Already in Place
The current roadmap envisions a significantly larger fleet in the coming months. Authorities have proposed operating a total of 100 electric buses across the region. Under this plan, Noida would receive 50 buses, while Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority areas would be allocated 25 buses each.
The expansion reflects the government’s broader effort to strengthen sustainable public transportation and improve connectivity across the NCR through modern mobility solutions.
