Recruitment – Jagan Seeks CBI Investigation Into Alleged Teacher Hiring Irregularities

Recruitment –  Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Mega District Selection Committee (DSC) teacher recruitment process, alleging serious irregularities at multiple stages of the examination and appointment procedure.

Jagan seeks cbi probe teacher recruitment

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Jagan said recent developments linked to the Mega DSC recruitment exercise had raised significant concerns among candidates and the public. He alleged that the process, which was expected to provide opportunities to thousands of aspiring teachers, had instead become surrounded by questions over transparency and fairness.

Concerns Raised Over Recruitment Process

According to Jagan, the recruitment drive was a crucial opportunity for lakhs of job seekers who had spent months preparing for examinations and interviews. He claimed that the handling of the process had damaged the confidence of many candidates who were hoping to secure teaching positions through merit-based selection.

The YSRCP leader argued that any irregularity in such a large-scale recruitment exercise could have long-term consequences for young aspirants. He stated that the issue deserved a detailed and independent investigation to establish the facts and restore public trust in the system.

Allegations Against State Government

Jagan accused the government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of failing to ensure transparency during the recruitment process. He alleged that reports and videos circulating in the public domain suggested that certain posts were being offered through improper means rather than through a fair competitive process.

He further claimed that the administration had centralized key responsibilities connected to the examination, including question paper preparation and management of the recruitment process. According to him, concentrating these responsibilities under a single authority weakened institutional checks and raised questions about accountability.

Demand for Independent Inquiry

The former Chief Minister said that only an independent agency could determine how many individuals had access to examination materials and whether any financial transactions influenced the recruitment outcome.

He also questioned the decision to centralize the publication of merit lists through an online system rather than displaying district-wise results, a practice he said had traditionally provided greater clarity for candidates. He maintained that a thorough investigation would help establish whether all recruitment procedures were followed correctly.

Sports Quota Selection Under Scrutiny

A significant portion of Jagan’s criticism focused on appointments made under the sports quota. He alleged that government orders allowed certain candidates to secure teaching positions without appearing for qualifying examinations, relying solely on participation certificates.

According to his claims, several individuals obtained appointments through certificates issued for participation in various competitions, while some candidates with stronger sporting achievements allegedly failed to secure selection. He stated that around 270 appointments were made under the sports quota without candidates taking the qualifying test.

Political Protest and Public Awareness

Jagan said the issue of the Mega DSC recruitment process would be highlighted during the YSRCP’s planned protest programme, titled “Vennupotuku Rendellu,” which is scheduled to mark two years of the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government.

He also remarked that younger generations are paying close attention to issues related to examinations and recruitment, emphasizing that public accountability remains important in matters affecting education and employment.

Comparison With Previous Recruitment Drives

The YSRCP chief compared the current recruitment process with appointments made during his tenure. He claimed that his government had completed large-scale recruitment exercises efficiently and within a limited timeframe while maintaining transparency.

Reiterating his demand for a CBI investigation, Jagan alleged that those responsible for overseeing the education sector should not be involved in assessing complaints related to the recruitment process. He said an independent inquiry would help determine the accuracy of the allegations and ensure that deserving candidates receive justice.
