Increased Surveillance on Suspected Offenders

According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, Bapatla District Superintendent of Police B. Umamaheswar said that law enforcement agencies are closely tracking the activities of known offenders and suspicious individuals. During the last week alone, police registered 26 new suspect sheets against persons with criminal records or activities considered potentially harmful to public order.

Officials stated that regular monitoring of habitual offenders has become a key strategy in reducing crime and ensuring a safer environment for residents. Police teams are maintaining watch over the movements and associations of those listed under rowdy and suspect categories.

Strict Warning Against Crimes Targeting Women

The district police chief stressed that any act of harassment, misconduct, or criminal behaviour directed at women and children will attract firm legal action. He noted that protecting women and minors remains one of the government’s highest priorities and that several initiatives have been introduced to improve security and support systems.

As part of these measures, police have prepared detailed records on 301 individuals allegedly involved in offences against women and girls. Authorities believe that continuous supervision of such persons can help reduce the likelihood of future incidents and enhance public confidence in law enforcement.

Operation Dandayan Focuses on Faster Justice

The state government’s special programme, known as Operation Dandayan, has been launched with the objective of improving safety for women and ensuring prompt action in criminal cases. Under the initiative, investigations related to crimes against women are being handled on a priority basis.

Police officials said efforts are being made to complete investigations quickly, with charge sheets being filed within 60 days wherever possible. The programme is designed to ensure that victims receive timely justice and that accused persons are brought before the courts without unnecessary delays.

Special Courts Handling Serious Cases

Authorities also highlighted that cases involving serious offences are being referred to special courts for expedited hearings. Depending on the nature and severity of the crime, legal proceedings are being accelerated to deliver verdicts more efficiently.

Officials believe that quicker trials and stronger punishment can serve as an effective deterrent against offences targeting women and children. The approach forms part of a broader strategy to improve accountability and strengthen confidence in the justice system.

Shakti Teams Expand Presence Across Public Areas

To further enhance safety measures, the district administration has established five dedicated Shakti Teams. Each team is led by an officer of sub-inspector rank and is tasked with monitoring locations frequently visited by women and students.

These teams regularly patrol educational institutions, transportation hubs, and other crowded public places. Their presence is intended to discourage harassment, improve response times, and provide immediate assistance whenever required.

Emergency Support Available Round the Clock

The Superintendent of Police urged women to seek help without hesitation whenever they face safety concerns. Residents have been encouraged to use the Shakti App or contact the emergency helpline 112 for immediate assistance.

Police officials assured the public that Shakti Teams and district police personnel remain on duty throughout the day and night. The administration stated that maintaining a secure environment for women and children will continue to remain a central focus of policing efforts in the district.
