Incident Reported at South London Residential Tower

The tragedy occurred on May 27 at a luxury apartment building in the Elephant and Castle area of south London. According to reports, 47-year-old Rakesh Pai, his wife Aditi Paralkar, 46, and their nine-year-old son Sid died after falling from a balcony located on the 36th floor of the building.

Emergency services were alerted early in the morning after witnesses reported seeing several people fall from a significant height. Responders arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the call and immediately began life-saving efforts.

Emergency Crews Unable to Save Victims

Paramedics carried out resuscitation attempts upon reaching the location. Despite their efforts, all three family members were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident took place in a residential tower that rises 45 storeys above the surrounding area and stands several hundred feet above ground level.

The sudden deaths have deeply affected residents of the building and the wider local community, many of whom were struggling to come to terms with the scale of the tragedy.

Child’s Medical Condition Under Investigation

Local Member of Parliament Neil Coyle described the incident as a devastating loss and expressed sympathy for those impacted. He said information shared with authorities suggested that the family’s son had been living with serious health complications from birth.

According to reports, investigators believe the child’s long-term medical condition may have played a role in the events leading up to the tragedy. Sid was reportedly affected by severe illnesses, including kidney-related health problems, which required ongoing care and treatment.

Family Had Sought Medical Treatment Abroad

Reports indicate that the family had explored medical options outside the United Kingdom in an effort to improve their son’s health. They are believed to have travelled to India in 2020 to seek specialised treatment for him.

However, after the treatment did not deliver the expected improvement, the family later returned to Britain. The parents were said to be established professionals, with Pai working in the financial consulting sector and Paralkar involved in construction consultancy.

Investigation and Inquest to Continue

Police and other relevant authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. While early findings have led investigators to consider the possibility of a murder-suicide, officials have not yet released final conclusions.

An inquest is expected to review evidence and establish a clear account of what happened on the day of the incident. Investigators will examine witness statements, medical records and other relevant information before determining the exact sequence of events.

The deaths of the couple and their young son have sparked sadness among residents and community members, while authorities continue their efforts to understand the factors that led to the tragedy.
