Investigation – Bhopal Court Orders Two Accused in Twisha Sharma Case to Judicial Custody
Investigation – A Bhopal court on Tuesday sent Samarth Singh and his mother, Giribala Singh, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma. The order was passed after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) produced both accused before the court following the completion of their five-day custodial remand.

Court Hearing Follows Completion of CBI Custody
The CBI informed the court that the initial custodial interrogation period had concluded and sought judicial custody for the accused. The agency also clarified that it retains the option to request further police remand at a later stage if investigators believe additional questioning becomes necessary during the course of the inquiry.
According to submissions made during the hearing, the investigation remains active and several aspects of the case are still under examination. The agency told the court that while judicial remand is being sought for now, future investigative requirements could lead to additional requests before the court.
Allegation Raised Inside Courtroom
During the proceedings, Giribala Singh, a former district judge and one of the accused in the case, alleged that her son had been physically assaulted by advocate Anurag Srivastava during an earlier hearing at the Jabalpur court.
She claimed that the incident occurred while court proceedings related to the case were underway. However, the allegation was strongly denied by Srivastava, who stated that any such claim could be verified through surveillance footage available within the court premises. He also questioned the basis of the allegation and called for a factual examination of the events.
Concerns Over Media Attention
Giribala Singh also expressed concern regarding what she described as excessive media attention surrounding the case. Addressing the court, she argued that continuous media coverage was creating difficulties for the family and affecting their safety.
She stated that media personnel frequently followed them during court appearances and public movements, adding that such coverage should be regulated. The remarks were made as part of her submissions before the court during the hearing.
Questions Raised Over Crime Scene Recreation
Another issue highlighted by Giribala Singh involved a recent crime scene reconstruction exercise conducted by the CBI. She alleged that there were irregularities in the manner in which the exercise was carried out.
According to her statement, she was not dropped directly at her residence after participating in the reconstruction process and was instead left some distance away. She also objected to videos and visuals from the exercise being circulated through various media platforms, questioning how such material became publicly available.
Background of the Case
The case relates to the death of Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, who died in Bhopal on May 12. Following her death, family members alleged that she had experienced dowry-related harassment and prolonged mental distress at the hands of her husband and in-laws.
These allegations led to a formal investigation, which was later taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The agency has been examining the circumstances surrounding her death, gathering evidence, and recording statements as part of its ongoing inquiry.
Investigation Continues
With both accused now in judicial custody, investigators are expected to continue reviewing evidence and pursuing additional leads. The court proceedings mark another significant development in a case that has drawn considerable public attention.
The CBI has not yet indicated when the next major phase of the investigation will conclude, and the matter remains under judicial consideration.
