Police Operation Leads to Arrest

According to police officials, the accused, identified as Naseem, allegedly attempted to escape when officers tried to stop him near the Chandausi T-point during a vehicle inspection drive. Investigators said the suspect was riding a motorcycle and reportedly tried to flee after noticing the police team.

Officers stated that the accused allegedly opened fire at the police personnel while attempting to evade arrest. In response, police carried out retaliatory firing during which the suspect suffered a bullet injury to his right leg. He was later taken into custody and shifted for medical treatment under police supervision.

Circle Officer Deepak Kumar said the operation was part of a routine checking campaign focused on suspicious vehicles and individuals moving through the area. Police teams had intensified surveillance following the complaint related to the assault case registered earlier.

Woman Undergoing Medical Treatment

Police officials said the elderly woman sustained severe injuries in the alleged assault and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. Authorities have not released additional details regarding her condition but confirmed that medical care and legal procedures are ongoing.

The incident had triggered concern in the local area after reports emerged about the alleged crime at a brick kiln located within the Kareli Road region under Chandausi Police Station limits.

Investigators said statements are being recorded and evidence is being collected as part of the ongoing inquiry. Officials added that further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation and forensic findings.

Weapons and Motorcycle Recovered

During the arrest operation, police recovered an illegal .315 bore pistol from the accused, along with one live cartridge and one empty cartridge. Officers also seized a motorcycle that allegedly did not have a registration number plate.

Authorities said the seized items have been sent for examination and included as part of the case record. Security measures in the area have also been strengthened to prevent any disturbance following the arrest.

Police maintained that the accused remains under custody while legal proceedings continue under relevant sections of the law.

Separate Assault Case Reported in Kanpur

In another incident reported in Uttar Pradesh earlier this week, Kanpur police registered a case after a woman accused a hotel manager and several others of assault and rape.

Officials stated that the complaint was filed at Kalyanpur Police Station, following which the accused individuals were detained for questioning. Police said prompt action was taken immediately after the woman approached authorities.

West Kanpur Deputy Commissioner of Police SM Qasim Abidi confirmed that investigators reviewed CCTV footage collected from the hotel during the preliminary stage of the inquiry. According to the officer, the footage examined initially did not immediately support the allegations made in the complaint.

Investigation Continues in Kanpur Case

Police officials said the woman in the Kanpur case has been sent for medical examination while questioning of the detained individuals continues. Authorities added that the investigation is still underway and further legal steps will be based on medical reports, witness statements, and other evidence gathered during the probe.

The police department stated that all aspects of the complaint are being examined carefully to ensure a fair and transparent investigation. Officials also urged the public to avoid speculation while the inquiry remains active.
