Politics – The Bharatiya Janata Party intensified its organisational preparations in Odisha on Monday as senior leaders gathered in Bhubaneswar for a key strategy meeting led by the party’s national president, Nitin Nabin. The high-level discussion focused on strengthening the party structure and preparing local leaders ahead of the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections in the state.
Senior Leaders Attend Core Committee Meeting
The BJP core committee meeting took place at the party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar and witnessed the participation of several prominent leaders. Among those present were Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, and Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal.
The meeting formed part of Nitin Nabin’s two-day organisational visit to Odisha, which began on Sunday. Party officials described the visit as significant for reviewing the BJP’s political groundwork in the state and improving coordination between district and state-level leaders.
Focus on District-Level Training and Election Readiness
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Manmohan Samal said the visit would include extensive interaction with district leaders and party workers. According to him, training workshops were planned to equip district cadres with organisational guidance and election-related strategies.
He stated that the BJP intends to rely heavily on local leadership while preparing for the Panchayat elections. Feedback from grassroots representatives and experienced district leaders is expected to play a major role in shaping the party’s election strategy across Odisha.
Party leaders believe that decentralised planning could help strengthen the BJP’s outreach in rural areas where local governance issues often influence voter sentiment. The workshops are also expected to improve communication between senior leadership and workers at the district level.
Visit Seen as Important for Odisha BJP
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi described Nitin Nabin’s arrival in Odisha as an important occasion for the state unit. She noted that this was his first visit to Odisha after assuming charge as BJP national president.
Sarangi said party members across the state were enthusiastic about the visit and looked forward to receiving direction from the national leadership at a crucial political moment. With local body elections approaching, BJP leaders are aiming to expand the party’s organisational strength and voter engagement in both urban and rural constituencies.
According to party officials, the visit also includes meetings with BJP office bearers, Members of Parliament, and Members of the Legislative Assembly. Discussions are expected to cover organisational performance, election preparedness, and future political priorities in Odisha.
Spiritual Visit to Puri Included in Schedule
Apart from political meetings, Nitin Nabin is also scheduled to visit Jagannath Temple in Puri during his Odisha tour. Leaders said he would seek blessings at the famous temple before continuing with the party’s organisational programmes.
The visit to Puri holds symbolic importance for the BJP, as the temple remains one of the most prominent religious and cultural landmarks in Odisha. Political leaders from various parties frequently include spiritual visits in their public engagements across the state.
