Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday morning. He was married to BJP leader Aparna Yadav. Reports said he was undergoing treatment for health-related issues over the past several weeks.
Admitted to Hospital Early Morning
According to sources, Prateek Yadav was taken to Civil Hospital in Lucknow around 6 am after his condition worsened. Doctors attending to him later declared him dead. Several members of the Yadav family were reportedly present at the hospital during the final moments.
Visuals from the hospital premises showed his mortal remains being transported in a hearse van shortly after official procedures were completed. News of his death quickly spread across political and social circles in Uttar Pradesh, drawing condolences from leaders and supporters.
Health Issues Reportedly Continued for Weeks
Sources familiar with the matter stated that Prateek Yadav had not been keeping well for some time. A few weeks earlier, he had been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow for treatment. During that period, Akhilesh Yadav had also visited him to inquire about his health condition.
After doctors observed some improvement in his condition, Prateek was reportedly shifted back home. However, his health is said to have deteriorated again in recent days, leading to his admission to Civil Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Although Prateek Yadav largely maintained a low public profile compared to other members of the family, his connection to two major political camps in Uttar Pradesh often attracted public attention. Being the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav placed him at the intersection of two prominent political backgrounds in the state.
