DelhiIncident – Women Allege Assault and Racial Abuse Near Nehru Place Hotel

DelhiIncident –  Two women from Assam and Bihar have accused a group of men of assault, molestation, and racial abuse outside a luxury hotel in Delhi’s Nehru Place area. Police said four suspects have been detained and are currently being questioned in connection with the incident.

Delhi racial abuse assault case

According to officials, the incident took place on Sunday evening when the women were reportedly standing outside the hotel and having tea. The situation allegedly escalated after two men began making inappropriate comments toward them. The women claimed that the men continued harassing them before several others joined the group shortly afterward.

Allegations of Physical Assault

The survivors alleged that the confrontation quickly turned violent. One of the women stated that a man allegedly behaved inappropriately with her and tore her clothes during the altercation. Another accused individual was alleged to have attacked one of the women using a bamboo stick.

Police sources said the women also faced racist comments and offensive remarks during the incident. Authorities believe the verbal abuse contributed to the escalation into a physical clash.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for Southeast Delhi, Hemant Tiwari, said a preliminary inquiry indicated that derogatory comments and abusive behavior were directed at the two women before the violence broke out.

Medical Examination Conducted

After the incident, both women were taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for medical examination. Police confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Investigators are reviewing statements from the survivors and examining evidence related to the incident. Officials said further legal action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Concerns Over Racial Harassment

The case has once again drawn attention to repeated complaints of racial discrimination faced by people from different regions of the country while living in the national capital. Incidents involving racial remarks against individuals from northeastern states have been reported in Delhi on several occasions over the years.

Earlier in February, three women from Arunachal Pradesh had also alleged that they were targeted with racial slurs by neighbors in the Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi. That incident had sparked criticism from social groups and activists who demanded stronger action against discriminatory behavior.

Investigation Continues

Police officials said efforts are underway to establish the exact sequence of events and identify the role of each accused person. Authorities are also checking nearby surveillance footage from the area to support the investigation.

The latest incident has renewed discussions around women’s safety and the need for stricter action against harassment and racially abusive conduct in public places. Law enforcement agencies have assured that appropriate legal steps will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
