Recruitment Scam – Jharkhand Excise Exam Leak Accused Arrested in Bihar
Recruitment Scam – A major development has emerged in the Jharkhand excise constable recruitment paper leak investigation after Ranchi Police arrested the alleged mastermind from Bihar. The accused, identified as Amrit Raj, also known as Bulbul, was taken into custody from Saharsa district following a targeted operation carried out by a special police team.

According to investigators, Amrit Raj is employed as a clerk with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation and was posted in Siliguri, West Bengal. Police officials said his name surfaced repeatedly during questioning of several suspects who had already been arrested in connection with the recruitment examination leak case.
Police Operation Conducted After Specific Intelligence
Officials stated that law enforcement agencies received information suggesting the accused had travelled to his native village in Saharsa while on leave from work. Based on this input, a Ranchi Police team launched a coordinated raid and successfully detained him from the area.
Investigators believe the arrest could become a significant turning point in the probe, as the accused is suspected of playing a central role in organising the illegal network linked to the examination leak. During initial questioning, he reportedly admitted involvement in the operation connected to the compromised recruitment examination.
Court Proceedings and Further Investigation
After his arrest, the accused was produced before the court and later sent to judicial custody. Police authorities have also requested his remand for extended interrogation, stating that further questioning may help uncover additional individuals connected to the racket.
Officials involved in the investigation suspect the network may extend across multiple districts and involve several intermediaries responsible for coordinating candidates, arranging leaked material, and collecting payments. The interrogation is expected to focus on identifying the complete chain of people allegedly associated with the operation.
How the Recruitment Scam Came to Light
The examination fraud case first surfaced on April 11 after Ranchi Police carried out a raid at an under-construction nursing college building located in Radgaon under the Tamar police station area. During the operation, authorities detained 159 individuals, including examination candidates and members of an alleged solver gang.
The investigation that followed revealed that candidates were allegedly provided with answers to expected examination questions ahead of the Jharkhand excise constable recruitment test conducted on April 12. Police sources indicated that several candidates were reportedly charged nearly ₹3 lakh in exchange for access to the leaked material and assistance related to the examination process.
Authorities Expanding the Probe
Police officials have confirmed that the investigation remains active and additional arrests are possible in the coming days. Digital evidence, financial transactions, communication records, and links between suspects are currently being examined by investigators.
The case has once again raised concerns over the security of recruitment examinations and the growing challenge of organised paper leak networks targeting government job aspirants. Authorities are expected to tighten monitoring systems and strengthen examination security protocols as the probe continues.
