Preparations Underway in Jamnagar and Somnath

According to Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the Prime Minister will reach Jamnagar on the night of May 10. Local residents and party supporters have been preparing a large welcome for his arrival. Sanghavi said people across the region are enthusiastic about the visit and several public events have been organised to mark the occasion.

The following morning, Modi is expected to travel to Somnath to attend the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Officials have also planned a roadshow in the temple town before the Prime Minister offers prayers and performs rituals at the Somnath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Security arrangements and crowd management measures are being strengthened ahead of the programme due to the expected turnout.

Sardar Dham Inauguration Scheduled in Vadodara

Later on May 11, the Prime Minister will visit Vadodara to inaugurate Sardar Dham, an important community and social infrastructure project in Gujarat. State leaders and local organisers are preparing another large public reception in the city, along with a roadshow planned around the inauguration event.

Deputy Chief Minister Sanghavi stated that people from different parts of Gujarat are looking forward to welcoming the Prime Minister during the two-day visit. Political workers and local administrations have also intensified preparations in the districts connected to the scheduled programmes.

Prime Minister Shares Reflections on Somnath Temple

Ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Modi shared an opinion article discussing the historical and cultural importance of the Somnath Temple. In a message posted on X, he said the visit holds special significance because it coincides with 75 years since the restored temple was inaugurated by India’s first President, Dr Rajendra Prasad.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to generations of people who contributed to protecting and rebuilding the temple despite repeated challenges over centuries. He described Somnath as a symbol of resilience and cultural continuity in Indian civilisation.

Somnath’s Historical Importance Highlighted

In his remarks, Modi referred to his participation earlier this year in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, an event organised to mark 1,000 years since the first recorded attack on the temple. He said the history of Somnath reflects a journey of rebuilding and renewal after periods of destruction.

The Somnath Temple, located on the western coast of Gujarat, remains one of the country’s most visited pilgrimage destinations. The temple has long held religious and historical significance and continues to attract devotees and visitors from across India throughout the year.
