Focus on Rajasthan’s Tourism Potential

During her visit to the venue, Diya Kumari reviewed ongoing meetings between inbound tour operators and tourism businesses. She noted that Rajasthan offers a wide range of experiences, from heritage and culture to wildlife and emerging travel destinations. According to her, the state continues to expand its tourism portfolio by developing new locations to attract a broader audience.

She also pointed out the strong participation at the event, mentioning that around 185 tour operators attended, including a significant number from overseas. Their presence reflects sustained global interest in India as a travel destination and indicates confidence in Rajasthan’s tourism infrastructure.

Platform for Industry Collaboration

The Great Indian Travel Bazaar is being jointly organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The event serves as a meeting ground for stakeholders across the tourism sector, including hotels, resorts, tour operators, and destination management companies.

Officials stated that the primary aim of the event is to promote inbound tourism by creating direct business opportunities. By bringing buyers and sellers together on a single platform, the event encourages partnerships that can lead to increased tourist arrivals in the coming years.

Strong Business Engagement Expected

Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas expressed optimism about the scale of business interactions expected during the event. He said that thousands of meetings are scheduled over the course of two days, providing participants with ample opportunities to establish connections and explore new ventures.

He also acknowledged the support of the central government’s tourism ministry, noting that such collaboration strengthens the overall impact of the event. According to him, this partnership approach plays a crucial role in enhancing India’s visibility in the international tourism market.

Support From Industry Associations

The event has received backing from several industry bodies, including the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Rajasthan, the Indian Heritage Hotels Association, and the Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators. Their involvement ensures a comprehensive representation of the tourism ecosystem, from hospitality services to heritage experiences.

These associations contribute by facilitating networking opportunities and showcasing the strengths of Rajasthan’s tourism sector. Their participation also helps highlight the state’s readiness to cater to diverse traveler preferences.

A Growing Global Travel Marketplace

Since its inception in 2008, the Great Indian Travel Bazaar has steadily expanded its reach. Over the past 14 editions, approximately 3,000 foreign tour operators from 99 countries have participated as buyers. This consistent international presence underscores the event’s reputation as a reliable platform for global travel engagement.

The 15th edition, being held from April 26 to April 28, 2026, continues this legacy by focusing on strengthening ties between Indian tourism stakeholders and international markets. With increasing interest in experiential travel, events like GITB play a key role in shaping future tourism trends.

As discussions and business meetings continue, stakeholders remain hopeful that the outcomes will contribute to sustained growth in India’s tourism sector, benefiting both the economy and local communities.
