Cinema – Mandaadi filming concludes after demanding sea-based action schedule
Cinema – The production of the upcoming action drama “Mandaadi,” directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendi and starring Soori, has officially reached completion. The announcement was made by the production banner R S Infotainment through its social media platforms, marking the end of an extensive and physically challenging shoot.

Filming concludes after intensive schedule
According to the production team, the project involved a long and demanding journey, with much of the filming taking place at sea. To commemorate the wrap, the makers also shared a behind-the-scenes video that highlighted the effort invested by both cast and crew. The footage revealed that several members faced minor injuries during the shoot, underlining the physically taxing nature of the production.
Soori’s commitment stands out
The film has drawn significant attention largely due to Soori’s involvement in high-risk sequences. Sources indicate that the actor chose to perform all major stunts himself, particularly those filmed in marine conditions. This approach, without relying on body doubles, has contributed to growing anticipation among audiences.
Industry insiders believe the film could mark a turning point in Soori’s career. Unlike his previous roles, “Mandaadi” places him in a more intense and performance-oriented character, supported by a storyline that demands both emotional depth and physical endurance.
Preparation for sailboat sequences
A key aspect of the film revolves around sailboat racing sequences, which are expected to play a central role in the narrative. For these scenes, Soori reportedly underwent months of structured training to understand both the physical and technical aspects of the sport. This preparation is said to have helped bring authenticity to the scenes, enhancing the film’s overall realism.
The production team has designed these sequences to deliver a visually engaging experience. With large-scale setups and intricate choreography, these portions aim to present something rarely explored in Indian cinema.
High production scale and technical collaboration
To achieve the desired scale, the filmmakers collaborated with international action experts and utilized advanced filming techniques. Specialized sports cameras and global-standard equipment were employed to capture the intensity of the sea-based action.
Stunt coordination for the project was led by Peter Hein, who worked on the film for nearly two months. The production itself is reported to have been mounted on a budget of approximately ₹75 crore, reflecting the ambitious vision behind the project.
Strong technical team supports the project
“Mandaadi” features a well-established technical crew. Music has been composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar, while cinematography is handled by S.R. Kathir, known for his realistic visual style. The production design has been overseen by D.R.K. Kiran, with editing by Pradeep E. Ragav. Sound design responsibilities were managed by Prathap, and visual effects were developed by R. Harihara Suthan.
Pan-Indian release plans
The film is being prepared for a wide release across multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. It is currently scheduled to arrive in theatres during the summer of 2026. With its focus on universal themes and large-scale storytelling, the makers aim to reach audiences across different regions.
The combination of a challenging production process, technical scale, and Soori’s performance has positioned “Mandaadi” as one of the more anticipated releases in the coming year.
