Employment – Inclusive hiring and farmer support highlighted at Gujarat bank event
Employment – Five individuals with disabilities were formally appointed to permanent roles at a state-run cooperative bank during a programme held in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. The event also saw financial assistance being extended to families of farmers who lost their lives in accidents, reflecting the institution’s continued focus on social welfare.

Permanent roles for differently-abled staff
The programme, presided over by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, marked an important step toward inclusive employment within the banking sector. Five employees, who had successfully completed their probationary period, received their permanent appointment letters. These employees were working across various branches, including Mangrol, Junagadh, Kutiyana, Jetpur, and Morbi.
Addressing the gathering, Sanghavi congratulated the newly confirmed staff members and encouraged them to continue working with dedication. He expressed confidence in their abilities and wished them success in their professional journeys.
Financial relief for bereaved farmer families
In addition to staff appointments, the event focused on providing financial support to families affected by the loss of farmer members. Cheques were distributed under an accident insurance scheme aimed at assisting beneficiaries during challenging times.
An amount of Rs 11 lakh was handed over to the family of late Hemantji Parmar. Meanwhile, families of late Hiteshkumar Patel and late Bhanabhai Baraiya received Rs 5 lakh each. The assistance, officials said, is designed to ease financial burdens and provide some stability to grieving households.
Sanghavi conveyed his condolences to the families and noted that such initiatives are intended to ensure that families receive timely support in difficult circumstances. He emphasized the importance of extending institutional help to rural communities.
Insurance scheme for loan-taking farmers
The cooperative bank highlighted its accident insurance scheme, which offers coverage of up to Rs 11 lakh to families of farmers who have taken loans from the institution. The premium for this insurance is fully borne by the bank, ensuring that farmers do not face additional financial strain.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance financial security for rural households. By providing coverage against unforeseen incidents, the scheme aims to protect families from sudden economic hardship and support long-term stability.
Focus on inclusive growth and welfare
Bank chairman Dolar Kotecha, speaking at the programme, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to both employee welfare and farmer support. He thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for attending the event and acknowledged the importance of government backing in such initiatives.
Kotecha noted that the bank continues to work toward strengthening its support systems, not only by offering financial assistance but also by promoting equal employment opportunities. He added that inclusive hiring practices help build a more balanced and representative workforce.
Part of broader governance initiatives
The programme was organised as part of activities marking 11 years of governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Officials present at the event highlighted the role of cooperative institutions in implementing welfare measures at the grassroots level.
The gathering was attended by bank officials, beneficiaries, and employees. It served as a platform to showcase both financial assistance programmes and employment initiatives aimed at supporting communities across Gujarat.
Overall, the event reflected a combined effort to address social and economic needs by promoting inclusive employment and providing financial safeguards to vulnerable families.
