Fire Breaks Out in Residential Area

According to officials, the Delhi Fire Services received an emergency call at approximately 5:14 pm reporting a house fire in Taimoor Nagar, a locality within New Friends Colony. The caller indicated that several occupants were trapped inside the building. In response, six fire tenders were immediately dispatched to house number 3, where the blaze had already begun to spread.

Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control within roughly 20 minutes. By 5:35 pm, the flames had been contained, and the fire was completely extinguished shortly thereafter. Their timely intervention prevented the fire from escalating further and causing more extensive damage.

Occupants Rescued Without Injury

Emergency personnel successfully evacuated ten people from the building, including a five-year-old child. Authorities later identified those rescued as Suraj Singh, Ashok, Ram Naresh, Kishan Lal, Ram Kishan, Sachin, Tamanna, Priyansha, Sneha, and young Ryansh.

Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported among the occupants. Officials credited the quick response of fire crews and coordinated efforts by local authorities for ensuring everyone’s safety.

Preliminary Cause Points to Stored Household Items

Initial findings suggest that the fire may have started in a room on the first floor where domestic items had been stored. The building, which consists of a ground floor and three upper levels, could have been at higher risk if the fire had spread vertically.

Authorities have stated that the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Experts will examine the site to determine whether electrical faults, negligence, or other factors contributed to the incident.

Emergency Services Coordinate at Scene

Along with fire personnel, police and other emergency teams reached the location promptly and assisted in the rescue and crowd management. The area was secured to ensure that no additional risks emerged during the operation.

Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining fire safety measures in residential buildings, especially where multiple families or tenants reside.

Separate Fire Incident Averted at Railway Yard

In another incident reported the same day, a potentially dangerous situation unfolded at Shakur Basti Railway Station in northwest Delhi. A petrol-filled tank wagon caught fire in the railway yard, raising concerns about a possible large-scale accident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was likely caused by leakage from the manhole of the tanker wagon. The escaping petrol led to the formation of highly flammable vapours, which eventually ignited.

Quick Action Prevents Major Mishap

Railway staff responded immediately using available fire safety equipment, including extinguishers and gas cylinders. Their prompt action ensured that the flames were contained before they could spread to nearby wagons or railway infrastructure.

Senior officials confirmed that no injuries or casualties occurred in this incident. Additionally, there was no significant damage to railway property.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have secured the railway yard and initiated a detailed inquiry into the incident. The focus will be on identifying the exact cause of the leakage and determining accountability.

Both incidents highlight the critical role of rapid emergency response and adherence to safety protocols in preventing loss of life and property damage.
