The controversy began after a short video clip began circulating widely on social media platforms. The footage reportedly shows headmistress Madhu Rai lying on the classroom floor while using her mobile phone. Several students dressed in school uniforms are seated on benches nearby, and one girl appears to be massaging the headmistress’s feet.

The video, which is approximately 23 seconds long, quickly attracted attention online and led to questions about the treatment of students inside the government-run institution. According to reports, the students seen in the video are from Class 5.

Education Department Orders Inspection

Following the emergence of the clip, officials from the district education department initiated an inspection of the school located in the Naya Bazar area of Karwi. Basic Siksha Adhikari BK Sharma confirmed that a team was sent to examine the situation and gather details about the alleged incident.

However, officials were informed that Madhu Rai was not present at the school during the inspection as she was reportedly on medical leave at the time. Despite her absence, the inspection team spoke with students and staff members to understand what had happened.

Students Claim Similar Incidents Happened Earlier

During the inspection, several students reportedly told officials that such behaviour had occurred more than once. According to the statements recorded in the inspection report, some students claimed that they had previously been asked to massage the headmistress during school hours.

Based on the findings, district education authorities decided to take disciplinary action. BK Sharma stated that the suspension was ordered after the inspection report indicated that students had been involved in such activities.

Officials said the decision was taken to maintain discipline in the school system and ensure that students are not placed in inappropriate situations during school hours.

Senior Official Confirms Suspension

Basic Siksha Adhikari BK Sharma confirmed that the suspension order was issued after reviewing the report submitted by the inspection team. He said that the statements collected from students formed an important part of the inquiry.

According to the education department, Madhu Rai had been serving as the headmistress at the government primary school and was expected to retire in the next couple of years.

The department has not ruled out further action depending on the outcome of any additional investigation.
