Addressing those present at the BJP office, Dhami said his government will complete four years in power on March 7. He noted that a series of public programmes and official events are being planned to mark the occasion. According to the Chief Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to participate in the commemorative events.

Dhami described the four-year period as significant for the state’s development journey and said the anniversary would provide an opportunity to share achievements and outline future priorities. He did not elaborate on specific programmes but indicated that preparations are underway.

Holi Celebrations at Party Headquarters

The Holi Milan gathering at the party office reflected the festive mood across the state. Dhami greeted attendees and spoke about the broader meaning of Holi beyond the celebration of colours.

He said the festival represents the cultural richness of Uttarakhand and plays an important role in strengthening social bonds. According to him, Holi encourages harmony and reinforces a sense of unity among communities. The Chief Minister conveyed his wishes for peace and prosperity to the people of the state.

Participation in Kashipur Rangotsav

A day earlier, on Sunday, Dhami attended the Rangotsav Holi Milan ceremony organised at the Kashipur Municipal Corporation premises. The event drew residents, local officials and cultural performers who gathered to celebrate the festival in a traditional setting.

During the programme, the Chief Minister joined participants in singing traditional Kumaoni Holi songs, classical compositions and devotional bhajans. The celebrations were marked by music, colours and community participation, reflecting local customs associated with the festival in the Kumaon region.

Speaking at the Kashipur event, Dhami said it was a privilege to celebrate the occasion among the public. He appreciated the efforts of the municipal corporation team for organising the programme and ensuring active community involvement.

Emphasis on Preserving Cultural Traditions

The Chief Minister described the Rangotsav event as more than a routine celebration. He said such gatherings help preserve long-standing cultural practices and pass them on to younger generations.

Dhami expressed satisfaction at seeing people from different age groups participating together. He noted that Holi provides an opportunity to reinforce mutual respect, brotherhood and social harmony. According to him, the festival serves as a reminder that collective happiness grows stronger when communities celebrate together.

Significance of Holi Festival

Holi, often referred to as the Spring Festival, marks the arrival of the new season and the harvest period in many parts of India. The festival holds deep roots in Hindu tradition and is widely seen as a symbol of the triumph of good over evil.

The celebrations traditionally begin with Holika Dahan, a ritual bonfire that signifies the burning away of negativity. The ritual is linked to the legend of Prahlad and his devotion to Lord Vishnu, despite opposition from his father, the demon king Hiranyakashyapu. According to the mythology, Holika, who attempted to harm Prahlad, was ultimately destroyed, symbolising the victory of faith and righteousness.

Across Uttarakhand, Holi is celebrated with music, community gatherings and the exchange of colours. This year’s events, attended by the Chief Minister, combined cultural festivities with political significance as the state government approaches its four-year milestone.
