PremierLeague –  Arsenal strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Chelsea on Sunday, maintaining a five-point advantage in the title race. Set-Piece Precision Guides Arsenal to Victory

The breakthrough arrived midway through the first half when William Saliba reacted sharply inside the box during a corner routine. His close-range effort, aided by a slight deflection, left the Chelsea goalkeeper with little chance and handed Arsenal a deserved lead in the 21st minute.

Chelsea, however, refused to retreat. As halftime approached, the visitors drew level in fortunate circumstances. A defensive mix-up saw Piero Hincapie inadvertently turn the ball into his own net, ensuring the teams went into the interval locked at 1-1.

The contest remained tightly balanced after the restart, but Arsenal once again made their dominance from dead-ball situations count. In the 66th minute, Jurrien Timber rose highest to meet another well-delivered corner, powering a header past the Chelsea defense to restore the home side’s advantage.

Chelsea’s hopes of a comeback suffered a significant setback soon after. Winger Pedro Neto was dismissed in the 70th minute after receiving two yellow cards within a short span, reducing the visitors to ten men. Arsenal managed the closing stages with composure, preserving a result that keeps them firmly in control at the summit.

Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta praised his players’ application and consistency. He described the victory as significant, particularly given the pressure of maintaining momentum in a tightly contested campaign.

Manchester United Rally to Climb to Third

At Old Trafford, Manchester United staged a comeback to secure a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, a result that lifted them into third place in the standings.

The visitors made an early statement when Maxence Lacroix found the net to put Palace ahead. United responded with greater urgency and were handed a route back into the contest when Lacroix was shown a red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity, conceding a penalty in the process. Bruno Fernandes calmly converted from the spot to restore parity.

The decisive moment came in the 65th minute. Benjamin Sesko, continuing his impressive run of form, connected powerfully with a Fernandes cross to head home the winner. United controlled proceedings thereafter, capitalizing on their numerical advantage to secure three important points.

Fulham Hold Off Tottenham in London Clash

Elsewhere in the capital, Fulham earned a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi in the first half gave the hosts a strong foundation at Craven Cottage.

Tottenham struggled to create clear chances and managed only a single shot on target throughout the match. That effort resulted in a goal from Richarlison, but it proved insufficient to spark a turnaround. Fulham’s disciplined defensive display ensured they saw out the game without further alarm.

Title Race and Top-Four Battle Take Shape

The weekend’s results reinforce Arsenal’s authority in the Premier League title race, while Manchester United’s resurgence adds further intrigue to the battle for Champions League qualification. Chelsea and Tottenham, meanwhile, will need swift responses to avoid slipping further behind in a season where margins continue to be narrow.

As the campaign progresses, consistency in high-pressure fixtures is emerging as the defining factor. Arsenal’s efficiency from set pieces and United’s resilience underline the qualities required to compete at the top level, setting up an intense stretch of matches in the weeks ahead.
