IndiGo has confirmed the launch of nonstop flights connecting Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) with Ahmedabad, Diu, Goa, Rajkot, Belgaum, and Kolhapur. The new routes will come into effect from March 29, 2026, marking another step in the airline’s growing operations at the recently developed airport.

New Routes to Boost Regional Travel

The airline stated that these flights will be operated using ATR aircraft, typically deployed on short-haul regional sectors. By assigning these turboprop planes to the new routes, IndiGo aims to improve access between emerging urban centers and key metropolitan destinations.

With the addition of these services, travelers flying to and from Navi Mumbai can expect more scheduling options and improved convenience. The airline emphasized that expanding its ATR network is central to its strategy of enhancing regional aviation, particularly by linking tier-2 and tier-3 cities with larger economic hubs.

Bookings for the new flights are being rolled out across all reservation platforms, including the airline’s official website, mobile application, and authorized travel agencies. Passengers can gradually access seats as inventory opens over the coming weeks.

Focus on Navi Mumbai Operations

IndiGo’s latest announcement underscores its intention to develop Navi Mumbai as a significant operational base. As traffic continues to shift toward the new airport, airlines are positioning themselves to capture growing demand from both business and leisure travelers.

By strengthening its footprint at NMIA, IndiGo is seeking to provide seamless connections and dependable service for passengers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and beyond. The airline noted that enhanced connectivity is expected to support tourism, facilitate trade, and contribute to local economic development in the cities being added to its network.

Adjustments to Long-Haul International Services

Earlier this month, IndiGo revealed changes to parts of its international long-haul schedule, citing operational challenges affecting its widebody fleet. The airline explained that certain services would be suspended or reduced in frequency to improve overall reliability.

According to the company, its Boeing 787-9 operations have been impacted by evolving airspace restrictions linked to geopolitical developments, along with congestion at airports in India and overseas. These conditions have resulted in longer flight durations and block times, putting pressure on the airline’s schedule, which currently relies on six widebody aircraft.

To prevent delays from cascading across its network, IndiGo said it has chosen to temporarily streamline select routes. The objective, the airline stated, is to stabilize performance and minimize inconvenience for passengers.

Route Suspensions and Frequency Reductions

As part of the revisions, IndiGo will suspend flights to and from Copenhagen beginning February 17, 2026, until further notice. Additionally, services between Delhi and Manchester will be reduced from five weekly flights to four starting February 7, 2026, and further trimmed to three weekly departures from February 19. This will bring total weekly connectivity to Manchester down from nine flights to seven.

The airline clarified that the reduction in Manchester services had originally been planned for the Summer Schedule 2026 but has been advanced in order to maintain operational stability.

Flights between Delhi and London Heathrow will also see a temporary adjustment. Beginning February 9, 2026, weekly services on this route will decrease from five to four during the current winter schedule.

IndiGo stated that it is directly contacting passengers affected by these changes to offer rebooking alternatives, refunds, or compensation in line with regulatory guidelines.

Transition Phase for Widebody Fleet

The airline’s long-haul operations began in March 2025 through a damp-lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways. This arrangement was introduced as an interim measure while IndiGo prepares for the induction of Airbus A350-900 aircraft, expected to join its fleet from early 2028.

In its statement, IndiGo acknowledged that external factors have affected schedule reliability on its 787-9 routes. The carrier added that it will continue monitoring global developments and adjust its international network as necessary to ensure stable operations.
