Suicide – Five Family Members Found Dead in Mathura Village Home
Suicide – A quiet village in Uttar Pradesh was shaken on Tuesday after five members of the same household were discovered dead inside their home in Mathura district, in what police suspect to be a case of mass suicide.
Incident Discovered in Khapparpur Village
The tragedy unfolded in Khapparpur village, which falls under the Mahavan police station limits in Mathura. According to officials, a 35-year-old farmer, Manish Kumar, his wife Seema, believed to be around 32 years old, and their three young children were found lifeless inside a room of their house.
Authorities said the deaths are believed to have occurred late Monday night. Initial findings suggest that the family may have consumed milk laced with poison. The matter came to light on Tuesday morning when neighbors noticed that the children had not stepped outside, which was unusual for the household.
Concerned by the silence, Manish Kumar’s brother arrived at the residence along with a few villagers. When repeated knocks went unanswered, they climbed over the boundary wall and forced the door open. Inside, they found all five family members unresponsive. Police were informed immediately.
Suicide Note and Video Recovered
During a preliminary inspection of the scene, investigators reportedly found a handwritten note as well as a message written on a wall stating that the family was ending their lives voluntarily. Officials also confirmed that a video recording made by Manish Kumar was recovered from the house.
However, law enforcement authorities have not disclosed the contents of the note or the video, citing the ongoing investigation. Officers are examining these materials as part of efforts to understand the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Forensic Examination and Legal Process
Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar Singh stated that a forensic team was dispatched to the site soon after the incident was reported. Evidence has been collected from the residence, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police officials emphasized that all legal procedures are being followed. “Necessary evidence has been secured, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation,” the senior officer said.
The area around the house witnessed a large gathering of local residents as news of the deaths spread. Police personnel were deployed to maintain order and prevent any disturbance.
Motive Yet to Be Determined
At this stage, investigators have not confirmed what may have driven the family to take such an extreme step. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including financial stress, personal issues, and other potential factors, though no specific reason has been established.
