Yamuna expressway truck accident

Collision Near Milestone 88

The incident took place around 2:45 a.m. near Milestone 88, within the limits of Surir police station. Officials said a private bus traveling from Delhi toward Kanpur had briefly pulled over along the expressway. Several passengers reportedly stepped out during the stop.

At that moment, a speeding truck approached the stationary vehicle. Preliminary findings suggest the truck driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer toward the roadside and strike the passengers who were standing outside the bus. The impact resulted in multiple fatalities at the scene.

Police teams arrived shortly after receiving emergency calls and immediately began rescue efforts. The injured passenger, identified as Amar Dubey, was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Doctors have stated that his condition is stable and he remains under observation.

Victims Identified, Investigation Underway

Authorities have confirmed the identities of four of the six deceased. They include Sonu from Auraiya, Devesh from Basti, Aslam from Kannauj, and Santosh, a resident of Prem Nagar in Delhi. Efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victims and complete the formalities required before handing over the bodies to their families.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said the bus had stopped along the expressway when several passengers got down briefly. During that time, the truck rammed into them, leading to six deaths and one injury. A case has been registered, and investigators are examining the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officials Cite Driver Negligence

Mathura District Magistrate C.P. Singh stated that initial findings point toward irresponsible driving as a major factor in the accident. He confirmed that six individuals died on the spot, while the injured passenger is out of immediate danger following medical treatment. The administration has assured that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.

An eyewitness described the scene as chaotic and sudden. According to the witness, the bus had halted and passengers had stepped out when the truck struck unexpectedly, triggering panic among those present.

Expressway Safety Under Scrutiny

The Yamuna Expressway, a key high-speed corridor connecting Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh, has witnessed several serious accidents in recent years. Road safety experts have frequently emphasized the importance of disciplined driving, especially during night hours when visibility can be limited and fatigue may affect drivers’ reaction time.

Authorities have once again urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and remain cautious while driving on expressways. Stopping on high-speed corridors without adequate safety measures can increase the risk of such tragic incidents, officials noted.

Police have informed the families of the deceased and are coordinating with them for further procedures. Meanwhile, forensic teams are examining the vehicles involved to determine whether mechanical failure, overspeeding, or driver fatigue contributed to the crash.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses and additional details emerge from the inquiry.
