Jammu : drug dealer apprehended by J&K police, heroin recovered
Jammu: On Monday, police in the Jammu region of J&K said that they had taken into custody a narcotics dealer from whom heroin had been found.

“Continuing firm actions against the drug menace, Police Station City Jammu achieved a breakthrough by arresting a notorious drug peddler and seizing heroin during a targeted operation in the city,” the police statement said. A police team from IC P.P. Residency Road, led by PSI Aaqib Lateef, along with IC Hari Market GC Thappa and PSI Imran Hameed of Police Station City, arrested Chanchal Singh, son of Thakur Anar Singh, a resident of H. No. 149, near Ram Mandir, Shastri Nagar, Jammu, on January 10, 2026, in response to specific and credible inputs and under continuous surveillance to combat drug abuse.”
Five grams of heroin and a vehicle with the registration number HR26BD/2045 were found in his possession during the inspection. Following proper legal process, the contraband was confiscated and the offender was put into jail right away.
As a result, a FIR was filed at Police Station City under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.
“More research is being done to find both forward and backward connections within the drug network. Inspector Shakti Devi of the SHO Police Station City, the SP City North, and the SDPO City North oversaw the operation. According to the statement, Jammu Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and exhorts the public to be watchful and assist in creating a drug-free Jammu by exchanging information.
Aggressive operations against drug traffickers, peddlers, and individuals engaged in hawala money and other illicit financial activity have been conducted by the J&K Police.
It is thought that the money made from these activities is ultimately used to support terrorism on union territory.
After receiving court rulings, the police have also begun attaching the properties of those engaged in hawala money rackets, drug traffickers, etc. Under the UAPA, those implicated are being held.
