Sri Lanka: COAS General Upendra Dwivedi visits Army War College in and engages with student officers

Sri Lanka: During his visit to the Army War College in Sri Lanka, COAS General Upendra Dwivedi spoke with student officers and emphasized the value of creative thinking and readiness to function in all types of conflict. Additionally, in light of the constantly changing nature of contemporary combat, General Dwivedi urged the student officers to pursue professional excellence and cultivate agility and flexibility.

Additionally, he saw the Army War College get a military ambulance and the India-Sri Lanka Friendship Sports Complex’s foundation was laid.

“General Upendra Dwivedi COAS, today visited the Army War College (AWC), Sri Lanka and interacted with Major General DKRN Silva, Commandant, AWC,” the ADGPI said in a post on X. The COAS was present when the military ambulance was handed over to AWC and the foundation for the India-Sri Lanka Friendship Sports Complex was laid.

The article went on, “The #COAS urged the student officers to relentlessly pursue professional excellence and develop agility and adaptability towards the rapidly evolving character of modern conflict.” He emphasized the value of creative problem-solving and readiness to engage in all forms of conflict.

Prior to this, COAS met with Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), Deputy Minister of Defense, and Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), Secretary of Defense, Sri Lanka, on Thursday to talk about measures to improve military-to-military ties and bilateral defense cooperation.

Their discussions centered on strengthening strategic connections, increasing collaborative military training, and analyzing the region’s present geostrategic environment.

As part of his official visit to Sri Lanka, General Dwivedi also lay a wreath at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) Memorial in Colombo, honoring the Indian troops who lost their life during Operation Pawan.
