Mumbai: A 36-year-old man is arrested under the POCSO Act in Malad for molesting seven schoolgirls
Mumbai: In the Malvani neighborhood of Malad, seven schoolgirls between the ages of 14 and 15 were the victims of a startling molestation event. The young girls were reportedly abused by a 36-year-old guy who lured them with the promise of a car ride on a public route. Within hours after filing the complaint under provisions pertaining to molestation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, Malvani Police moved quickly to arrest the accused. The accused was brought before the special POCSO court in Dindoshi after his arrest, and they remanded him to police detention.
One of the victims, a 14-year-old girl, lives with her parents in the Santacruz region and attends a school in Malvani, according to the police. As usual, she left home for school on Tuesday at approximately 7:30 a.m. The accused came up to her and her classmates while they were standing close to the school grounds. He reportedly attempted to approach them, gave them hugs, made lewd gestures, and groped all seven females before they could respond.
Additionally, the accused reportedly promised to take the ladies for a trip in his vehicle and instructed them to meet him there on a daily basis. Locals gathered at the scene when the girls, terrified by the unexpected encounter, sounded an alert.
Malvani Police raced to the location as soon as they received information. Police filed an offense against the accused under the relevant BNS and POCSO Act provisions after recording the victim’s mother’s testimony. Later in the afternoon, the accused was taken into custody and officially arrested. He appeared before the special POCSO court on Wednesday, and police were given custody to conduct more investigation.
According to the police, the accused lives in Malad’s Malvani neighborhood. The event, which included the simultaneous molestation of all seven girls on a public road, caused terror and anxiety among the community. The accused is being questioned by police, who are also checking his criminal history. Additionally, investigators are looking into whether he has already engaged in similar behavior with other young females.
