Omar Abdullah: questions the BJP’s silence on the Nitish Kumar hijab controversy, saying, “Had A Muslim Man Lifted Hindu Woman’s Veil…”
Omar Abdullah: the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed dissatisfaction with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) reaction to Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, removing a woman doctor’s hijab at a formal function in Patna. “One could expect no better from the party,” he said, adding that if a Muslim guy had raised a Hindu woman’s veil, the episode would have caused enormous anger.
“If I had lifted the veil of a Hindu woman in Haryana or Rajasthan, would the BJP say the same?” Abdullah Omar inquired.
Imagine the chaos that would have resulted if a Muslim guy had lifted a Hindu woman’s veil. However, the BJP is acting in this manner because the lady is a Muslim. “There is nothing more we can anticipate from them,” he said.
Giriraj Singh, a Union Minister who publicly backed Nitish Kumar, said the Bihar chief minister had done “nothing wrong.” According to him, confirming one’s identification in official affairs is comparable to the requirements for employment or voting.
Singh told the reporters, “Shouldn’t a person’s face be seen if they are picking up an appointment letter? Is this a nation that practices Islam? As a guardian, Nitish Kumar performed. Don’t you reveal your face when you go to acquire a passport? Don’t you display it at the airport as well? While Pakistan and England are often discussed, this is India, where the rule of law will be upheld. Nitish Kumar made the correct decision.
Sanjay Nishad, a politician from Uttar Pradesh, made news with his offensive remarks while speaking to Bharat Samachar.
“Arey, woh bhi toh aadmi hain na, padna chahiye peeche nahi. After all, he is a guy. Naqab chhoo diya toh itna ho gaya…kahin aur chhoo dete toh kya ho jaata. He shouldn’t be harassed in this manner. The minister had told Bharat Samachar, “What would have occurred if he had touched anywhere else if touching the ‘hijab’ produced such an uproar?
