Shilpa Shetty: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra has denied rumors that income tax officers invaded her Mumbai home. According to her legal team, “no such action took place.”

Advocate Prashant Patil explained in a statement on the actor’s behalf that she was not the target of any income tax “raid.” Officials had just conducted a standard check as part of a follow-up process involving Shilpa Shetty, he said.

The statement said, “At the expense of repetition, my client Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra claims that there is no income tax ‘raid’ at her place.”

Actor Shilpa Shetty’s home was searched by Income Tax Department investigators on Thursday in relation to a case involving her restaurant, Bastian, according to an NDTV report. She is a co-owner of the 2014-founded company.

As part of the continuing probe, the authorities also searched a few locations in Bengaluru, according to NDTV. This is a part of a probe into possible tax violations and financial activities connected to Bastian.

According to the article, the Bengaluru Police filed a complaint on Wednesday against the city’s upscale restaurant’s Bastian Garden City location, claiming that it continued to operate beyond the official closing time.

Shetty and her husband used social media on Wednesday to vehemently refute the accusations, saying they had “fully cooperated” with the inquiry and were still optimistic that justice will be served. “We vehemently refute the driven and unfounded accusations that are circulating. Without any legitimate foundation, the matters being brought up are being painted in a criminal light. The high court has already received and is considering a quashing petition. We are certain that justice will be served and have total trust in our nation’s law enforcement and judicial systems after providing our full cooperation to the inquiry. She said on Instagram, “We respectfully ask the media to exercise restraint as the matter is subjudice.”

A Rs 60 Crore Fraud Case Against Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty
Allegations have also been made against actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, for allegedly defrauding a businessman of Rs 60 crore in an investment agreement. Deepak Kothar, a businessman from Mumbai, made a complaint stating that he spent around Rs 60 crore in Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a firm connected to Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra, based on promises of profits and payback. This led to the police registering the Rs 60 crore defrauding case.

The police filed a case against the pair after the First Information Report (FIR) claimed that the money had been embezzled and had not been returned despite repeated demands. The pair has been charged with infidelity by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offenses Wing.
