Commuters faced challenges as visibility fell to less than five meters in numerous places. The Meteorological Department reports that the state as a whole, comprising Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Meerut, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur, had a low temperature of 12 degrees Celsius and a high temperature of up to 26 degrees Celsius.

Throughout the year, India typically sees a broad variety of temperatures and meteorological conditions in various regions. The mountainous states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Jammu & Kashmir experience below-freezing temperatures throughout the winter months. The plains may see summer temperatures of 45 to 50 degrees. The year-round temperatures in coastal regions, such as the southern states, hover around 15 to 30 degrees Celsius.

On Monday morning, fog was also seen in a number of Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh, districts, including Gorakhpur. This might have an impact on the daytime weather. Clear weather is anticipated for the day in Deoria and Basti, with fog predicted in the morning.

Illnesses have also begun to surface as a result of weather variations. During the cold season, children and the elderly in particular often have certain challenges, such as coughs, colds, respiratory problems, and skin disorders. These patients have begun to proliferate in hospital outpatient departments (OPDs).

A healthy diet and way of living are crucial for preventing seasonal illnesses, according to Dr. Sunil Kumar. For improved health, it is essential to develop the practice of going to bed early and getting up early. Regular full-body medical examinations are also recommended.

Foods having a warming effect (garam taseer), such millet (bajra), sorghum (jowar), almonds, ghee, and jaggery (gud), should be consumed during the cold, according to CMO Dr. YK Rai. According to him, a seemingly routine issue may sometimes take a catastrophic turn, and if left untreated, an infection can spread to the lungs of those who already have respiratory conditions like asthma, making things worse for them.
