Bihar: cold wave is made worse by westerly winds

Bihar: With frigid winds blowing throughout the state, Bihar is suffering from an extreme cold wave.

Meteorologists claim that complicated atmospheric circumstances are causing chilly winds to blow into Bihar, sharply reducing temperatures and interfering with day-to-day activities.

Patna, Gaya, Saharsa, and Katihar are among the areas where the Bihar Meteorological Centre has recorded very chilly temperatures.

The lowest temperature has been below 10 degrees Celsius for the previous several days, and for the past two nights it has dropped to around 5 degrees Celsius, which is far below average for this time of year.

Even though the state is predicted to be dry, commuters may encounter challenges due to mild fog and early mist.

Travelers are advised by the Met Department to exercise caution, particularly in the early morning.

The chill factor is being increased by cold winds that blow between 15 and 20 km/h, especially in the morning and evening.

In the following two to three days, dense fog is also predicted, which will make it harder to see in a number of regions.

As of right moment, no significant temperature shift has been anticipated.

On Tuesday, Patna saw below-average highs of 24 degrees Celsius and lows of 13 degrees Celsius.

People are using indoor heating, warm clothes, and bonfires as the temperatures drop dramatically.

The government has urged people to take additional care when it comes to youngsters and the elderly and to avoid stepping outside in the early hours of the morning unless absolutely essential.

The temperature has dropped quickly due to westerly winds that have exacerbated the cold wave.

For the next two days, there may be persistent thick fog in districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, Patna, Gaya, and Kaimur, which will seriously impair vision, according to the Meteorological Department.

Nonetheless, there is some respite throughout the day as the persistent cold weather is relieved by the warmth and comfort of brilliant sunlight.

For the following four to five days, there won’t be any significant changes in the maximum or minimum temperatures, according to weather experts, but after December 15, the temperature may begin to drop once again.

Small variations are anticipated till then. Health professionals and authorities stress that being vigilant and taking precautions are essential to protecting against the severe consequences of winter.
