Remarks on Political Opposition

Addressing the gathering, Modi said the Samajwadi Party has consistently resisted progress in the state and prefers policies that could reverse recent advancements. He pointed to the party’s stance in Parliament, claiming it opposed legislation aimed at ensuring reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies from 2029. According to him, such actions reflect a broader pattern in the party’s approach toward governance and social reform.

The prime minister further stated that representatives elected from Uttar Pradesh should prioritize the state’s interests. He alleged that some leaders instead support positions taken by other regional parties that do not favor increased representation for Uttar Pradesh at the national level.

Concerns Over Representation and Alliances

Modi referred to debates around parliamentary seat distribution, saying certain parties have objected to expanding Uttar Pradesh’s representation. He accused the Samajwadi Party of echoing those views rather than advocating for the state. According to him, such political alignments create divisions and slow down development initiatives.

He emphasized that governance should focus on inclusive growth rather than political disagreements, adding that development-oriented policies are essential for long-term progress.

Highlighting Infrastructure Progress

Shifting focus to development, Modi underscored the transformation Uttar Pradesh has undergone in recent years. He said the state has moved beyond its earlier image associated with poor infrastructure and law-and-order concerns.

The expansion of expressways, including the newly inaugurated Ganga Expressway, was cited as a key example. Modi noted that Uttar Pradesh now leads in expressway development, reflecting significant improvements in connectivity and logistics. These projects, he said, are expected to support economic growth and attract investment across sectors.

Industrial Growth and Emerging Sectors

The prime minister also highlighted the state’s growing role in manufacturing and technology. He said Uttar Pradesh has become a major contributor to India’s mobile phone production, accounting for a substantial share of the country’s output.

Additionally, he mentioned developments in defence manufacturing and the establishment of a semiconductor facility in Noida. According to Modi, these initiatives are creating new opportunities in advanced industries and strengthening the state’s position in the national economy.

Uttar Pradesh in National Development Goals

Modi linked the state’s progress to India’s broader vision of becoming a developed nation. He said large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects are crucial for achieving this goal and that Uttar Pradesh will play a central role in driving economic expansion.

He added that improved connectivity, investment inflow, and industrial diversification are contributing to job creation and regional development.

Global Context and India’s Position

Referring to international conditions, Modi said the world is currently experiencing instability and conflict, affecting many major economies. Despite these challenges, he stated that India continues to maintain steady growth and development.

He also remarked that while some global and domestic factors may attempt to hinder progress, the country remains focused on strengthening its economy and infrastructure. According to him, India’s ongoing development efforts demonstrate resilience and stability in a changing global environment.
