NH-730 Crash – Two Truck Drivers Killed in Shravasti Collision
NH-730 Crash – Road safety concerns returned to focus after a serious truck accident on National Highway 730 in Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti district on Friday morning. Two truck drivers lost their lives and five other people were injured when two heavy vehicles collided near Vijaypur.
Early Morning Collision Near Vijaypur
The crash occurred in the Vijaypur area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Nawin Modern police station. Officials said the two trucks were travelling from opposite directions when they struck each other head-on on NH-730.
The force of the collision badly damaged the front sections of both vehicles. The accident also affected people resting outside a house close to the highway, leaving three local residents injured.
Driver Trapped Inside Wrecked Cabin
One of the drivers was trapped inside the crushed cabin after the impact. Rescue personnel worked for several hours to remove him from the vehicle. A JCB machine was brought in to help pull apart the damaged structure and recover the driver.
Both truck drivers were declared dead following the collision. Police are yet to release their identities as efforts continue to inform their families and complete legal procedures.
Five People Taken for Medical Care
Five people suffered injuries in the accident, including three residents who had been sleeping on charpoys outside their home near the highway. They were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment soon after the crash.
Authorities have not provided an official update on the condition of those injured. Medical teams are continuing to monitor the victims, while police are gathering information from people present at the scene.
Survivor Points to Possible Driver Fatigue
A man travelling with one of the trucks survived the accident and told reporters that the drivers may have fallen asleep before the collision. He said the vehicles collided directly and added that fatigue could have played a role in the incident.
His statement is being examined as part of the police inquiry. Investigators are expected to review the route taken by the trucks, the timing of the crash and other possible factors that may have led to the accident.
Traffic Restoration Work Underway
The damaged trucks blocked a portion of National Highway 730 after the collision, affecting traffic movement in the area. Police and local authorities began clearing the wreckage to reopen the road for vehicles.
Heavy machinery was used during the rescue operation and road clearance work. Traffic personnel were also deployed to manage vehicles passing through the affected stretch and prevent further disruption.
Police Begin Detailed Investigation
Police have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the Shravasti truck collision. Statements from the survivor, local residents and other witnesses are being recorded. Officials are also examining whether driver fatigue, speed, visibility or road conditions contributed to the crash.
