Kidnapping – Rewarded Suspect Arrested After Police Operation in Ghaziabad
Kidnapping – A wanted suspect linked to a kidnapping and murder case was arrested after a police operation in Ghaziabad’s Loni area. The accused, who carried a reward of ₹50,000, suffered injuries during an exchange of fire and was later admitted to a hospital for treatment.

A significant police operation was carried out under the Loni police station limits in Ghaziabad district, leading to the arrest of a man identified as Gaurav. Authorities said he was wanted in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of Omkar Singh, a resident of Ganoli village. The suspect was injured during the encounter and taken into custody.
Police Acted on Specific Intelligence
According to officials, police teams received information on June 6 suggesting that Gaurav was moving toward Nithaura Road. Based on the input, officers established a checking point near the Nithaura underpass in an effort to intercept him before he could escape.
During the surveillance operation, police personnel noticed a motorcycle rider approaching from the Nithora side. Officers signaled him to stop for verification, but the rider allegedly ignored the instructions and attempted to flee from the location. This prompted police teams to begin a pursuit.
Exchange of Fire During Escape Attempt
Police stated that while trying to evade arrest, the motorcycle reportedly lost balance and skidded, causing the rider to fall on the road. Investigators claim that after falling, the suspect opened fire at the police team.
Officials said the police responded in self-defence after coming under attack. During the exchange, Gaurav sustained bullet injuries in both legs. He was immediately overpowered and taken into custody by the police team present at the scene.
Connection to Kidnapping and Murder Case
Following his arrest, the accused was shifted to a district hospital for medical treatment. During preliminary questioning, investigators said Gaurav disclosed information related to the disappearance of Omkar Singh.
Police alleged that the accused admitted involvement in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of the victim along with several associates. During interrogation, he reportedly informed investigators that the body had been disposed of in the Ganganagar area along the Rohta-Meerut Road.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the investigation but confirmed that the information provided by the accused is being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
Search Continues for Other Accused
Police officials confirmed that a criminal case related to kidnapping and murder had already been registered at the Loni police station on May 30. Since then, multiple teams had been working to trace those allegedly involved in the crime.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Siddharth Gautam stated that officers had been actively pursuing leads in the case. He said fresh intelligence received on June 6 helped police locate the suspect near the Nithaura underpass, resulting in the operation that led to his arrest.
The ACP further stated that the accused attempted to escape police action and allegedly fired at officers during the chase. Police then responded, leading to his injury and subsequent arrest.
Weapons and Vehicle Seized
During the operation, police recovered a motorcycle believed to have been used by the accused. Officers also seized a country-made pistol, one live cartridge and one spent cartridge case from his possession.
Investigators are continuing efforts to identify and arrest the remaining suspects allegedly connected to the kidnapping and murder case. Further legal proceedings are underway as the investigation progresses.
