DowryDeath – Fourth Arrest Made in Greater Noida Bride Death Case
DowryDeath – A major development has emerged in the suspected dowry death case of 24-year-old Deepika Nagar in Greater Noida, where police on Wednesday arrested her mother-in-law, Poonam. With this action, the total number of people taken into custody in connection with the case has risen to four.

Deepika’s husband Hrithik, father-in-law Manoj, mother-in-law Poonam, and Vinod, who is the husband’s uncle, have all been arrested so far. Police officials confirmed that teams are continuing raids to locate and detain other individuals who may have been involved in the incident.
Investigation Expands After Multiple Arrests
Earlier on Wednesday, authorities had arrested Vinod during a separate operation linked to the same case. Investigators said further questioning of the accused is underway as they attempt to piece together the events leading to Deepika’s death.
The incident took place in the Ecotech-3 area of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Deepika died under circumstances that initially raised suspicion among local residents and family members. Her relatives have accused her in-laws of subjecting her to prolonged harassment over dowry demands.
Police sources stated that preliminary findings indicate Deepika may have taken the extreme step after facing sustained mental pressure. However, investigators are also examining the possibility of physical assault based on medical evidence.
Family Alleges Continuous Dowry Demands
According to Deepika’s family, her marriage to Hrithik was conducted around 14 months ago with significant expenditure. Relatives claimed that nearly Rs 1 crore was spent on the wedding ceremony, including gifting a Toyota Fortuner vehicle, cash, jewellery, and household items.
Despite this, the family alleged that demands for additional dowry continued after the marriage. They accused the in-laws of repeatedly pressuring Deepika and her parents for more money and another luxury SUV along with Rs 50 lakh in cash.
Family members further claimed that Deepika faced both emotional and physical abuse inside her matrimonial home. They alleged that she had informed them several times about the harassment but continued trying to save the marriage.
Post-Mortem Findings Raise Serious Questions
The autopsy report has become a crucial part of the investigation after doctors found several external and internal injuries on Deepika’s body. Medical findings reportedly showed evidence of severe trauma before her death.
Officials familiar with the report said Deepika suffered swelling on the face, injuries on the elbow and forearm, along with wounds around the lower back and abdomen. The report also mentioned a deep wound near the knee joint and a large contusion mark on the thigh.
Doctors additionally detected internal bleeding and trauma-related injuries, including a ruptured spleen and blood clotting in parts of the brain. Bleeding from the ear and abrasion marks on the chest and abdomen were also recorded during the examination.
Investigators are now comparing these medical findings with statements provided by the victim’s family to determine whether the injuries were caused before the death or during the incident itself.
Police Continue Search for Remaining Accused
Senior police officials said forensic evidence, witness testimonies, and digital records are being examined carefully. Authorities are also questioning people from the village and members of both families to establish a clear timeline of events.
The death has triggered concern across the region, with residents demanding strict action if allegations of dowry harassment are proven. The case has once again drawn attention to recurring incidents of domestic abuse and dowry-related violence reported in different parts of the country.
Police stated that the investigation remains active and further arrests may follow depending on evidence collected during the probe.
