The newly completed Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is expected to make travel between the two major cities quicker and more convenient. The project has been designed to provide uninterrupted movement for commuters while reducing congestion on existing routes. Officials believe the new corridor will play a significant role in improving transportation efficiency for both personal and commercial travel.

Ahead of the inauguration, Nitin Gadkari described the project as an important achievement for Uttar Pradesh, saying it would redefine regional connectivity and support future development. He shared his remarks through a post on X, highlighting the expressway’s contribution to strengthening the state’s road infrastructure.

Infrastructure Projects Worth Over Rs 4,850 Crore

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the expressway and the additional National Highway projects would contribute to faster economic development by improving connectivity and creating opportunities for investment. According to him, better roads not only shorten travel distances but also encourage business activity, improve logistics, and make everyday transportation easier for residents.

He stated that the projects, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for modern infrastructure, would help establish a stronger transportation network while supporting long-term economic growth across Uttar Pradesh.

Travel Time Between Lucknow and Kanpur to Reduce

Rajnath Singh, who represents Lucknow in the Lok Sabha, said the completion of the expressway would substantially reduce the journey between Lucknow and Kanpur. He noted that commuters would now be able to cover the distance in approximately 45 to 50 minutes, making travel significantly more convenient.

The Defence Minister also mentioned that, during his visit to Lucknow, he would participate in the inauguration ceremony before attending the convocation programme at King George’s Medical University (KGMU).

Security Measures in Place for High-Profile Visit

Authorities have made detailed security arrangements ahead of the inauguration ceremony. Unnao Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash Singh said the event involves the movement of three senior leaders, requiring extensive deployment of security personnel across the district.

According to the police official, the programme is expected to begin around 3:30 pm. Security teams have been positioned at key locations, and officers have been briefed to ensure smooth traffic management and the successful conduct of the event.

NHAI Highlights Regional Connectivity Benefits

According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway will provide faster, smoother, and safer travel while improving connectivity within Uttar Pradesh as well as neighbouring states.

The expressway will offer easier access towards Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi through the Jhansi and Agra routes. It will also strengthen connectivity with Bihar and Nepal via the Prayagraj-Varanasi corridor, expanding regional transportation links.

Passengers travelling between Kanpur and Lucknow are also expected to benefit from improved access to Lucknow Airport and Shaheed Path, one of the city’s major arterial roads. Officials believe the project will reduce traffic pressure on existing highways, shorten travel time, and enhance convenience for commuters, businesses, and freight movement, further supporting economic activity across the region.
