AviationSecurity – IndiGo Flight Delayed After Bomb Threat Scare at Lucknow Airport
AviationSecurity – An IndiGo flight scheduled to travel from Lucknow to Delhi witnessed a major security alert on Friday after a suspected bomb threat prompted authorities to initiate emergency protocols at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The incident led to the evacuation of passengers from the aircraft and a detailed security inspection before operations could resume.

Suspicious Message Triggers Security Response
According to airport officials, the concern emerged shortly before departure when cabin staff reportedly discovered a tissue paper inside one of the aircraft’s lavatories carrying the handwritten word “bomb.” Although the message did not provide any additional details, aviation authorities treated the matter seriously in line with established safety regulations.
As soon as the information was brought to the attention of airport security personnel, the incident was reported to the relevant agencies. Officials quickly activated standard emergency procedures designed to handle potential threats to passenger safety. The development caused anxiety among travelers onboard as preparations for departure were already underway.
Passengers Safely Removed From Aircraft
The affected aircraft was operating as flight 6E2111, which serves the Ahmedabad–Delhi–Lucknow sector before continuing onward. The Lucknow-to-Delhi leg of the journey was expected to depart at approximately 10:45 a.m. and was carrying around 180 passengers.
Following the alert, authorities instructed all passengers to leave the aircraft in an orderly manner. Security teams ensured that travelers were escorted safely while airport personnel coordinated the response to avoid any disruption beyond the immediate area of concern.
Aircraft Moved for Detailed Examination
Sources familiar with the operation stated that the information was formally communicated to concerned authorities at around 11:15 a.m. A local standby was declared, and multiple agencies responsible for aviation security were immediately informed.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee reviewed the available information and categorized the threat as “specific,” requiring a comprehensive response. As part of the protocol, the aircraft was relocated to the designated Isolation Aircraft Parking Position, a secure area used for handling such situations. This allowed investigators and security experts to carry out a thorough examination away from regular airport traffic.
Extensive Search Finds No Explosive Material
Specialized security teams conducted a meticulous inspection of the aircraft, including passenger compartments, baggage areas, cargo sections, and other sensitive locations. The search operation was carried out with heightened caution to ensure that no potential risk was overlooked.
After completing the detailed checks, officials confirmed that no explosive device or suspicious object was found on board. The threat was ultimately determined to be a hoax, though authorities continued to review the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the message.
Investigation Continues
Airport authorities are expected to investigate how the note appeared inside the aircraft and identify any individuals who may have been responsible for creating the false alarm. Aviation experts note that even non-credible threats can result in significant operational disruptions, delays, and deployment of security resources.
The incident once again highlighted the strict security framework followed at Indian airports, where every threat is examined thoroughly regardless of its apparent credibility. Officials emphasized that passenger safety remains the highest priority and that all alerts are addressed with the utmost seriousness.
