Airport Development – Noida International Airport Begins Scheduled Commercial Services
Airport Development – Commercial flight services officially commenced from Noida International Airport on Monday, marking a major step in the development of one of India’s newest aviation facilities. The first scheduled flight departed for Lucknow, symbolizing the airport’s transition from infrastructure project to active transportation hub.
Farmers Take Part in Historic First Flight
A special group of farmers from the Jewar area traveled on the inaugural commercial service. These individuals and their families had earlier provided land for the airport project, which played a key role in making the large-scale development possible. The delegation is scheduled to participate in an interaction program with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.
The group is being accompanied by Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, who has been closely associated with the airport development initiative and regional infrastructure projects.
Civil Aviation Minister Meets Delegation
Before the departure of the first commercial flight, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu met with the farmers and their family members at the airport. During the interaction, he acknowledged their contribution to the project and emphasized the significance of their role in the transformation of the region into a major center for aviation and economic activity.
The meeting took place shortly after the formal launch of commercial operations at the airport. Officials highlighted that the participation of the farmers in the inaugural flight was intended as a gesture of appreciation for their support during the airport’s construction phase.
Airport Expected to Become Major Aviation Hub
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Mohan Naidu said the airport has been designed to serve both domestic and international travel needs. He noted that the facility is expected to play an important role in strengthening connectivity and supporting future growth in air transportation.
According to the minister, the airport’s development plan includes multiple phases of expansion. The initial stage is expected to accommodate approximately 12 million passengers annually. As passenger traffic grows, additional terminal infrastructure will be developed to increase capacity.
He stated that the long-term objective is to significantly expand the airport’s operations. Upon completion of the fourth phase of development, the airport is projected to handle up to 70 million passengers each year, positioning it among the largest aviation facilities in Asia.
Multiple Routes Commence Operations
The minister described the launch day as a landmark moment for the state and the aviation sector. He said special travel arrangements had been made for around 170 farmers whose families contributed land for the project, allowing them to participate in the inaugural journey to Lucknow.
Alongside the Lucknow service, flights to Bengaluru and other destinations also began operations as part of the airport’s initial schedule. Authorities confirmed that services to four destinations were launched on the first day of commercial operations.
Strong Public Response Marks Opening Day
Airport officials and visitors witnessed an atmosphere of enthusiasm as the first flights prepared for departure. The launch attracted attention from local residents, public representatives, and aviation stakeholders who view the airport as a major contributor to regional development.
With commercial operations now underway, Noida International Airport is expected to enhance connectivity across India while supporting business activity, tourism, and employment opportunities in western Uttar Pradesh. The project is also seen as a significant addition to the country’s rapidly expanding aviation network, with further growth anticipated in the coming years.
