During the last two and a half years under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Higher Allocation Compared With Previous Term

According to the data presented by the Finance Ministry, the amount received during the current TDP-led administration is around 72 percent higher than the Rs 11,386 crore released to the previous YSRCP government between 2020 and 2024 under the same scheme. The information came in response to a question raised in Parliament by YSRCP Member of Parliament P. V. Mithun Reddy, making the figures part of the official parliamentary record.

Focus on Project Planning and Financial Management

The increase in assistance reflects the state’s approach towards financial management, timely submission of eligible proposals, and faster implementation of approved projects. By meeting the requirements laid down under the SASCI scheme and ensuring projects are prepared within the prescribed guidelines, Andhra Pradesh has been able to secure larger allocations intended for capital expenditure. The funding is expected to support the development of public infrastructure and other long-term assets across the state.

Official Figures Released by the Union Government

The parliamentary reply stated that Andhra Pradesh has received a total of Rs 31,005.47 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme since the financial year 2020-21. Out of this overall amount, Rs 19,619 crore has been released during the tenure of the present government.

The year-wise distribution shows that the state received Rs 7,901.56 crore during 2024-25, followed by Rs 8,289.61 crore in 2025-26. A further Rs 3,428.14 crore has been released during the 2026-27 financial year up to August 1, 2026, according to the information placed before Parliament.

About the SASCI Scheme

The Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme is designed to encourage states to increase spending on infrastructure and capital projects by providing long-term financial support. Under the programme, the Central Government extends interest-free loans with a repayment period of 50 years, allowing states to invest in development projects without facing an immediate borrowing burden.

The Union Government has stated that financial assistance under the scheme is processed and released after states submit complete and eligible project proposals. Faster compliance with documentation and implementation requirements enables states to access funds more quickly. Andhra Pradesh’s latest allocation reflects its ability to meet these procedural requirements while advancing infrastructure investment plans supported by the Centre.
